If I was still a Jinger, I would say he's the one that got to XY first and saved her body from the fire. Like XY, some people find it admirable if their lover died with them instead of living on without them *barf*
As I said in the other thread. Jing didn't get to XY first. XL did, through the Love Bug. It was one of the major benefits of the Love Bug, that if one of the pair was seriously injured, the other one could keep them alive with their own vitality. And that's what XL did, even though the drama didn't show it correctly and in the right order.
Did XY find it admirable that Jing died because he couldn't live without her? If so, that's weird, since her and CX got majorly screwed over by CX's mother killing herself because she couldn't live without CX's father. I mean, that's the very first trauma of the show, that started their descent into powerlessness, separation and abuse.

HeadInTheClouds:
He loved her so much that he wanted to die with her, but when the time came to follow through, he failed. Hmm, that's actually quite in character for him, isn't it? Big promises, zero action!! If I was XY, I'd be questioning how much this dude actually loves me and how much I can actually rely on him.
This has been the source of so much screaming at my TV. How can XY think Jing fufills her criteria? He's been unreliable since what, episode 4? when he ghosted her after saying he'd back her up against CX and A'Nian.

HeadInTheClouds:
We debated on the other thread about the source of "devasted power". I argued that it was Xiang Liu, but I can see how Tong Hua would want Jing to have this because otherwise, Jing's role in this entire incident showed how useless he is. She would want to salvage the final ship - so can't make the "romantic lead" too pathetic. But even this credit is rather begrudging considering the whole sitting there waiting to die part. Sometimes I question how much Tong Hua actually likes YaoJing given the way she writes Jing's character.
Heh. I wonder about Tong Hua's affection for YaoJing too. There's the whole mirroring of XY being trapped, tortured and depowered by the 9 / 8 Tailed Fox as a child, and then her relationship with Jing, a 9 Tailed Fox. All the "XL is an abuser and Stockholm Syndrome" posters, completely ignore this blatant parallel between the 2 foxes.
NGL, when I first read that quoted material, I thought XL was the source of the 'devasted power' also. But I can live with it being Jing. Like you said, Jing needs something to do. But XL got there first with aid, even if he wasn't there physically.
