I think there is a message as it's based on actual famous poems. It's a well crafted art to find the right poem for the right chapter. I doubt it was picked at random, a random line in a random poem.

It may be hidden for some, but not for the ones who are willing to really understand this story and all its nuances and complexities.

This is not for Jingers. Jingers were given a basic storyline that they could follow without too much in-depth analysis. Not much thinking required.

This part is constantly being debated even by the Jingers. They looove to say how he protected her first and how XY would have been dead if not for him, but a more deep analysis starts to raise some doubts.

That's just not true about the assassination attempt. XL protected and kept her alive first, long distance via the Love Bug. It's like the secondary purpose of the Love Bug, to share their vitality.

If we are going to be pedantic and doll out credit for saving XY, then XL wins no question. Without his initial effort to keep XY's heart beating, she would be dead as a doornail by the time Jing ( he can have the devastating power) or CX can get there.

And if we want to talk about Jing. His action of not getting her out of there pretty much negates his contribution. If CX's people hadn't gotten there in time, XY would be dead because of his failure to act. 

Jing talked a good game about wanting to die with XY, but he DID NOT follow through. The one who actually did die for Xiao Yao was Xiang Liu. And just because he has 9 lives, that doesn't mean that it wasn't a sacrifice.

No matter which way you look at this thing, Jing does not come out good. 

Xiao Yao is a fool.

Are they not aware of how they are slapping themselves in the face with these kinds of comments? Like Jing all you want, thinking that Jing is perfect for Xiao Yao is OK too, but the text pretty much shows which man is the one that can be rely on.

I have the feeling Jing is probably Tong Hua's least favorite character. She doesn't even give him a special date with Xiao Yao like she does with Xiang Liu (the ocean dates, shopping, exploring the castle). And no, that spider web date isn't that special.

Forget about a special date, she didn't even give Jing his wedding night with Xiao Yao. Tong Hua doesn't shy away from the consummating scenes between her pairings....

I agree with your assessment of saving XY from the assassination, but I'm fine with sharing the credit ... cause I KNOW who did the most and in what order. ;p

Did you notice in those excerpts that were posted in the comments and Author Notes, that not once did Tong Hua say XY loved Jing?  Jingers posted them thinking they proved something, but completely ignored the fact that Tong Hua said, XY got what she wanted, A COMPANION.  So, I am definitely getting that feeling about Tong Hua not liking Jing.  Which, again, is why I'm holding onto my hopes for Season 2.
