I love how they made XL glow like moonlight in those scenes, even without the fighting energy.
I do have to wonder if CX thought he was that good of a fighter against XL? I mean, he was obviously worried about XL killing him, since he used a puppet. And yet ... he failed to notice that XL spent quite a long time fighting him.

It's upsetting the fan wars. With so much noise TH will never give us straight answers on what and who she really means in certain sections of the book.
I don't think Tong Hua will ever give us straight answers, regardless. Besides the fan wars being enthusiasm and publicity and sales, if she wanted things to be straightforward, she would have written it that way. It's much easier to write simply than to write such a layered book.

I find that TJC glows in a lot of the videos I've seen him in, be it other dramas or random reels posted by him/his studio/fans. He is just, beautiful. Not just handsome and talented, but beautiful too.
I remember in the drama that CX admitted there's no way he can ever win XL in a fight, and mentioned something about CX needing to depend on tactics to win XL. Thing is, XL is also darn smart so.... i guess that's why he is the reigning unbeatable fighter!
That said, I like that CX knows his weaknesses and strengths. He doesn't pretend to be something he isn't. He has admitted to XY's face that he used her to gain political power. He knows he cant beat XL in a fair fight. For these reasons, I wont mind it half as much if he was the one who got together with XY in the end.. plus he is also nowhere as weak and useless as Jing :p XL is a man, CX is a man, Jing is a lumpy clump of wet noodle

Yeah, it's definitely a trade off that newer shows, especially with magic. The martial arts aren't pushed so much as how it looks. Which is why I think it's weird that this got tagged as Wuxia -- it really isn't.

I love looking at TJC's calm facial expressions as he fought. I think he mentioned in an interview that he had to practice very hard to keep his expression cold and unmoving. Certainly a feat, I don't know how one can move like that and not have his micro expressions show through.

I have to agree. I'm sure he and his team works to present that glowing image, but he's striking, even in the roles where he doesn't have to be beautiful. But his XL is next level.
I don't remember that, but I don't think he did win against XL in the drama, until the end. And that wasn't so much tactics, I think as overwhelming odds. XL should be smarter. He's got nine brains! But the drama was good about showing him his tactical skills.
CX has his own appeal. I found him very sympathetic in season 1. Next season, however ... well, I think I will pop some popcorn and enjoy watching him go off the rails. ;ppp

I think Tan Jian Ci pulled it off because he believes in practice, practice, practice, and his dance background. One thing I love about his dancing is how he acts the story of the dance. And film fighting is basically dancing.
Watching LYF recently reminded me of Start Up Korean drama few years ago (anyone seen this drama?)
I rmbr the fan war from that drama, is exactly the same as this.
Man, i don't even want to recall those times.
The FL & ML, caused me the same anger as XY and TSJ. They both lost their senses and fell in love.
While the 2ML reminded me of XL. He remained the most logical till the end.Oh gosh.
