Quantcast

Most of what this board talks about arrives through a streaming service. Short drama is the exception - it arrives through an app, and the app is the product. There is a third path now, and it happens to be Western: independent studios shooting complete stories vertically and putting them on YouTube, free, with no app and no coin wall.

Disclosure first, because it matters: I make some of these. Heron TV is a small independent studio doing romantasy short dramas. This is not a discovery post from a neutral viewer, so take the list with that in mind.

One format note that trips people up. These are not 60-episode vertical series. Each title is a single 45 to 97 minute film shot 9:16. On MDL that reads as one very long episode rather than a season, which is probably why the databases have no idea what to do with them - too long to be a short, too short to be a feature.

By runtime, longest first:

The Heartbeat Lie - 97 min

Unfinished Love - 92 min

The Dragon Lord Returns - 90 min

Feral Heiress - 85 min

Marry a Stranger - 84 min

Twin Vengeance: The Heiress Returns - 81 min

Everything else, sorted by trope and pairing, is at romantasydrama.site

What I am actually curious about: has anyone here found other independent studios doing this outside the apps? Not ReelShort or DramaBox catalogue titles - studios publishing their own work, free, no signup. I have looked for a list of them and cannot find one anywhere, which makes me think the list does not exist yet and somebody should start it.

Adding it as a proper URL, since the board did not linkify the plain text above. The trope and pairing index is the useful part if you are after one specific thing - second chance, fake marriage, revenge:
