@kabocha:

Regarding your comments on W, it's a real disappointment. The drama is OK. But when you come out of Pinocchio, you see the cast, you think to yourself, this is going to be great. And in the end, the drama gets lost in its complexity, and that complexity completely undermines the relationship and connection between the two actors. You end up with something that makes no sense. And even though I like the fast pace and suspense, I wasn't as hooked as I expected to be.

Goblin, I don't understand the hype. You have to sit through five episodes to get into it, and the bromance is great, but that's where it ends.

Unlike BP, these two dramas aren't lighthearted, they tackle serious issues and have a real pace (especially W), but in the end, they're forgettable.

 Lou:

Burning Ice - There is a murder mystery, tragedy, a sort of love story that gets pulled into it. It's more oriented towards thriller than Pinocchio though.

My Name - sort of the secret identity thing from Pinocchio, the revenge theme, romance, tragedy thing. I gotta admit in my point of view the chemistry was stronger between FL and a different main ML than the one the series went with. But there are a lot of viewers that liked the romance story ;)

And then these 3:
The K2
Lawless Lawyer
Justice

They are similar in terms of step mother/parent being the villain, ML having a secret he cannot share with FL, romance that has tricky moments.

So first two picks are Burning Ice and My Name? Thanks.

Yes, you should wait longer for Healer and I Hear Your Voice. Otherwise you’ll be too influenced by your Pinocchio experience. Healer hits its audience-joy stride in the fourth episode for me. And they make Park Min Young look less attractive in the beginning, but they can’t hide her hotness forever. :) It does take concentration, and it is worth the effort.

I Hear Your Voice is fast paced, starts with a bang, and just keeps on delivering. You don’t have to think too hard. Just fasten your seatbelts. And keep some tissues handy.

Yup, you can trust WWWSK to be congenial and high quality.

Tomorrow With You is a niche drama in that it’s more intelligent and complex than most dramas. Because individual characters are complex, and not everything is spelled out in 18 pt, not all viewers know what to make of it. Y’all sound pretty articulate and like you will get this drama’s subtleties, as well as enjoy the way it dovetails with your tastes. For me, it is a truly solid drama that has proven itself. I’ve rewatched it once, all the way through, zero fast forwarding, 100% enthralled.

It's Okay, That's Love: The summary and the posters are totally unrepresentative of the drama. Yes, it starts out with an enemies to lovers, romcom vibe, but it is a journey: romantic, heart-opening, deep, meaningful, emotionally rewarding. I cannot spoil this drama for you by going into any more detail. It’s that good.

Don't Dare to Dream is extremely acerbic, and it’s not one bit like a Christmas movie. It’s highly original when seen against the backdrop of your typical romcom. Unlike BP, which has caricatured characters by design, DDTD takes recognizable character types and gives them sharp edges. Of the four, though, it’s the one I’m more doubtful of, now that I’ve had time to consider. I picked it because the love relationship is such a ride - maddening, intense, and hot. But it’s a romcom, when all’s said and done.

Another Miss Oh is not conventional, and not a bit like BP. It’s about people who’ve made mistakes and been hurt, and are dealing with difficult and involved emotional states and relationships. One reason Pinocchio is a great time is that it is high stakes, and people make choices that have costs and harsh consequences. Another Miss Oh isn’t as operatic and the karma isn’t as severe as Pinocchio’s, but character choices include not only those that are morally grey, but also some that are destructive and hurtful. This drama builds up a chemistry charge that you just can’t get in a goofy, happy go lucky drama like BP. The romance is compelling because it’s risky.

One thing that all four of these dramas share is that in them, adults do the things adults actually do in relationships. Not one of them is enthralled with female virginity. In that way, they’re different from Pinocchio, which doesn’t break with the convention of apparently abstemious emerging adults. But like Pinocchio, they show characters being subjected to intense experiences, and have solid, extremely intelligent writing. They all create an experience that is multi-faceted, and, in the case of Another Miss Oh, Tomorrow With You, and It’s Okay, That’s Love, they touch on tragedy in unforgettable ways.

I think you should watch It’s Okay, That’s Love first.

Thank you very much. Well, I'm telling you this, but we saw Pinocchio last April. Since then, we've had time to digest it. I admit that I'm thinking about giving Healer a second chance and sticking with it for the first four episodes, briefing my partner on the subject and summarizing the story. Because yes, in the first episode, it doesn't do the FL any justice. She seems so ordinary and insignificant. Unlike the ML, by the way.

It's good to read that I Hear Your Voice is more accessible and easier for us. It really makes me want to watch it too. But I know myself, if I put off giving Healer a second chance, I'll never give it one. And if it's the same for WWWSK, so much the better.

After all, it's always difficult to judge by the cover and the summary.

It's Okay That's Love seemed to have a mediocre summary, but I trust you. And it's available on Netflix too (it's always complicated to watch those that are only available on Viki). Tomorrow with You appeals to me more because I'm a big fan of time travel, whether in dramas or anime (yes, we're big anime fans too, where we alternate). Don't Dare to Dream seems OK. We love Christmas movies, but my concern is more about the experience. So far, we've seen a lot of remarkable dramas, and I'm afraid this one might be too lighthearted. Maybe I'm wrong. A good romantic comedy never hurts, I'll give you that, but sometimes, if it's forgettable, it's a shame. Another Miss Oh seems to have an original plot, so it obviously has a head start over something classic like Don't Dare to Dream. I don't know if you see what I mean. Anyway, I'm torn between playing it safe or kicking myself in the butt to give Healer a chance. Thanks anyway!

In the end, we thought we'd start with Healer, but since we had something else to do at the same time, we started WWWSK. We watched two episodes this weekend. It seems to me to be similar to Business Proposal. These first episodes are OK, they're light (even if the subject of identity can be interesting). I hope that over time, it will be closer to King The Land than Business Proposal. To be continued.

I believe your hope will be fulfilled! There is some lightness to WWWSK, that is undeniable. I hope it won't be too light for you. If it is, at least you'll know you've seen the highest production value stuck up CEO drama out there! Toodles for now! I'm going offline for a week.

Hi JohnRayley

Based on your list, I realized you enjoy lighthearted dramas with happier, more fun storylines. With that in mind, here are some recommendations from my list of dramas I enjoyed and think you'll also like:

1 - Doona! (similar to Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo with young adult themes)
2 - Marry My Husband (similar to Twinkling Watermelon with time travel and revenge elements)
3 - When Life Gives You Tangerines (deep, with time jumps and family generations)
4 - My Liberation Notes (similar to True Beauty, deep characters and melodrama about life's difficulties)
5 - Celebrity (critical theme about the superficial world of social media and influencers with several interesting developments).

We have watched 4 episodes at this moment. The third was pretty fun and cool. I think the show has started! For sure, it will be a good watching. At this moment, I think it is deeper than BP, so that's nice. I am exciting to know the back stories of all characters!

Thanks! I love the plot of Marry My Husband is not too revenge plot, but also romance?
