Novel spoilers from MTL-ing the characters' profile from Baidu. Please take this with a grain of salt and note that the novel is incomplete.

As Su Mengzhen's health worsened, many of Sunset Drizzle House's affairs were handled by Bai Choufei, expanding BCF's power. BCF succumbed to his greed and decided to kill SMZ to usurp his position. Under pretext, BCF got Wang Xiaoshi to leave the Capital. Injured and poisoned by BCF's henchman, SMZ escaped through a secret passage that led to Six Half Hall where Lei Chun saved him. 

At this point in the story, LC and SMZ has a love-hate relationship due to SMZ killing LC's adoptive father, Lei Sun. Consequently, LC became the head of Six Half Hall. In order to manipulate SMZ for her own use, LC gave him poison that made his mind in disarray.

WXS returned to the capital and vowed to avenge SMZ. With the cooperation of SMZ and others, BCF was defeated and killed by Lei Mei (BCF held Wen Rou hostage but let her go in the end). After getting his revenge and entrusting Sunset Drizzle House to WXS, SMZ refused to be controlled by LC to do evil deeds and ordered Yang Wuxie to kill him.

Some other spoilers:
- Guan Qi is actually Lei Chun's biological father.
- Lei Chun gets r*ped saving Wen Rou from a r*pist. I hope they cut this part out.

The summary is about 50% of the story. The novel has eight volumes so far. SMZ and BCF dies in the fourth volume.

The perpetrator who r*ped Lei Chun is still not clarified by the author. When Lei Chun took part in the battle of suppressing BCF, he was publicly accused of r*ping her and BCF admitted it. However, according to Zhuge Shenhou (the master of the four great constables from Wen Rui'an's other novel, The Four), Lei Chun mentioned to Prime Minister Cai Jing that BCF was the scapegoat and the real culprit has yet to be determined. 

Lei Chun doesn't end up with anyone...SMZ and BCF both died.

Are you talking about Zhu Xiaoyao? I think you’re referring to an early episode, but I’m not sure so can you link the clip?

With the way the adaptation is going, I'd say the story is from the first 4 novels. Because BCF and SMZ are very much part of the main cast and they will likely die towards the end. The drama isn't following the novel exactly. Many things have already changed.

i googling  some chinese website that use google translate (so a little mess translation), the article said that in the novel, even the combined force of 5 people (WYS, BCF, DFJ, LS, SMZ) are not his match.

In the novel universe. There are 7 undefeated hero/villain i forget but most of them is a carrier of legend weapon. Like su mengzhen sabre, wxs sword and fyk sword wenrou father also someone with ability. But not sure if he is strong like gq
