What do you think about the drama team? Do you think the leads have a good rapport?

To tell you the truth, I haven't warmed up to Tan Song Yun since the first year. I've never watched any of her dramas before. After seeing that she'll be partnered with ZYC here, I did some research. She's a very beautiful actress and talented. I think ZYC and TSY will do well together.

The drama I'm talking about is Go Ahead. There are rumors about ZYC, about his girlfriend. If it's not true, I would also want him to date Seven.

Tan Songyun is one of my fave actresses.

I loved Seven Tan already in  2021 'The Sword and the Brocade' where her character opened a brocade business in Ming dynasty with approval from her marquis husband (played by excellent Wallace Chung) who was suffering in a love-less harem household under strict rule by his mother who of course did not approve of the latest addition to the family, played by Tan Songyun. The story had an added twist of sleuthing around a murder mystery where FL's mother had been killed, and a second murder still not exposed when FL joined the household. The love story grew while misunderstandings were resolved and the marquis managed to get his will through about protecting the young brocade maker from the excessive mother, and opening the sea routes for commerce in court matters.

Loved TSY also in 2019 Under The Power (costume, with Allen Ren Jialun), 2020 The Eight (Republican area martial arts and spy drama), Go Ahead (modern family drama), 2022 Master of My  Own (modern business drama, with Lin Gengxin), 2022 Flight To You (modern professional pilot drama), 2023 Road Home (modern, lost love found again, with Jing Boran,  tons of kisses), 2024 As Beautiful As You (modern business drama with sweet love story : I wrote a "companion piece" for it at the time).  I still would have to catch up with her celebrated older dramas, such as 2017 The Fox's Summer, but found it complicated to find a nicely subbed and complete version of 2015-2016 The Whirlwind Girl (a MMA drama where she played alongside Yang Yang). 

She has been playing a lot since 2012!  Looking forward to the new drama, despite the trouble that dampened the promotion, because of a scandal touching one of the cast members (Zhao Hao Wei is supposed to have been "AI face lifted" by other actor Zhao Hua Wei, but I don't think the role was that important, since Baidu cast list simply "struck" ZHW and role from the cast list there).  The brocade is supposed to have been lent by museum(s) in Sichuan, and the sets were filmed in scenic spots, so I am looking forward to that too.

I don't know yet the ML, so will be pleased to discover him here, since his page seems to list quite a number of interesting dramas (which I'll perhaps give a peek to in the future, if I like enough his role in this Brocade Odyssey).

As for dating, I think Tan Songyun already has a loved one, steady, for years, but very lowkey. His picture is very confidential and his name not broadcast widely. She keeps acting and personal life very separate, as she should.

I like both Zheng Ye Cheng and TSY in this drama.  I think they work well together and have very good chemistry.  This is the first time I really liked ZYC ‘s performance and the character he played so I will look out for his other dramas.  As for TSY, the first drama of hers I watched was the Fox’s Summer ( costar Jiang Chao - I liked him after watching)and I was hooked.  So funny and her charm and bright personality shone through as in all her dramas.  I always perk up when I hear she is starring in a new drama because her dramas have good storylines, grest acting, charm, fight scenes if it’s a historical, romance,  drama, angst and humor.  She is beautiful yet memorable.  Some actresses are beautiful but not memorable and she had some very good looking co stars and her chemistry with them are off the charts.

Go Ahead, is another drama I liked of hers.  It’s one of my alltime favorites.  Her love interest there is the handsome Song Wei Long with Stephen Zhang as 2nd ML.  But great performances from all the actors and actresses  in the show as well.  I also like Under the Power ( after watching, I began to like Ren Jia Lun, her co star), The Eight ( Ou Hao - liked after watching) , As beautiful as you ( Xu Kai - always liked) , Flight to you (Wang Kai - always liked) and The sword and the brocade though I like BO better because I like the Yang Jinglan character more Than the cold, indifferent Marquis played by the great Wallace Chung.

Oh he was not really cold and indifferent. We got different perceptions. He was more mature certainly since playing a big age difference, but very attentive and defensive of his favorite wife which quickly became his one and only. >Somewhat like RJL 's Zhousheng Chen in drama of that name.  Although RJL plays better with his eyes...    Besides the kettle of shark fish the Marquis had to deal with at home necessitated both diplomacy and setting boundaries straight despite Queen Mom. Letting his wife do what she was made for, and rushing in to rescue even from far and distant dangerous roads fraught with ambushes and natural catastrophe felt somewhat akin to YJL rushing in from Nanzhao to stop the undesirable fate/marriage; but the Marquis never showed wuxia skills like YJL, he only used his own, not inconsiderable strengths.

It’s been a while since I watched The sword and brocade so my recollection may not be fresh but I remember for some reason, I didn’t love  the combination of the 2 leads as much as  I should and I’m not sure why.  I still liked the drama though.  If I recall correctly, the combo was a very slightly bit cringy for me and it’s not because of Wallace Chung who performed superbly.   I love him in My Sunshine with Tiffany Tang.  Could be because  his character was her step sister’s husband to begin with and also the age gap was very apparent, even though that’s the character he played.  I’m usually not bothered by age gaps ( e.g. loved the combination of TSY and SWL in Go ahead  and SWL and Victoria Song in Find yourself. So it’s possible it’s just a subjective thing on my part.  

I will have to rewatch to see if I feel the same.
