To the kisskh team,

We would like to suggest a few changes to the current rating system to make drama scores more consistent and representative of the viewing experience.

Our proposals

  1. Overall ratings should only be available once a drama has finished airing. Viewers should be able to assess the complete story rather than rate an unfinished production.

  2. Individual episode ratings should remain available throughout the broadcast, but only after each episode has aired. Viewers should be able to rate episodes once they have actually watched them, preventing premature or speculative voting.

  3. Once submitted, an overall rating should be final and non-editable. This would prevent repeated changes driven by temporary emotional reactions to particular plot developments or endings.

A drama is more than its final episode. Its overall quality includes the acting, writing, direction, cinematography, production and the journey as a whole. Viewers should be free to dislike an ending without allowing it to overshadow everything that came before.

Since ratings can influence whether new viewers decide to watch a drama, we believe this system would encourage fairer and more considered evaluations.

We respectfully ask kisskh to consider these changes. A fairer rating system benefits the entire drama community.

I wonder what is the verification of watched episodes? Only because someone marks completed doesn't mean they did. There's an honor system in place here. And I think people might be using multiple sign ins too. But again, who is to Police that???

I really hope MDL will consider introducing a minimum rating threshold of 4, alongside a more structured evaluation system. Perhaps viewers could assess different aspects of a drama, such as acting, writing, directing, cinematography, production quality and storytelling, rather than letting personal preferences, dislike of a particular actor or actress, or one disappointing plot development heavily influence the overall score.

Of course, everyone has the right to criticise a drama, dislike its writing or feel disappointed by its ending. That's perfectly fair. However, I believe a minimum score of 4 would at least acknowledge the collective effort, time and dedication that go into bringing a production to life, even when it doesn't meet everyone's expectations.

A drama is so much more than its final episode, and its overall rating should reflect the entire production, not just personal feelings or disappointment.

Thank you to the MDL team for taking the time to consider these suggestions. We sincerely hope these ideas can contribute to a fairer and more balanced rating system for everyone!

My only issue here is that sometimes when I rewatch and/or sit on a show for a while, my rating can change. Not having the option to change wouldn't be fair to those of us who truly rate for the right reasons.
