Can I ask a few questions about the book? First of all, how does the tattoo on his back go unnoticed by the people at home? In the series, his whole body was examined to determine whether he was Hongrang or not, so it seemed strange to me that the tattoo was overlooked. Also, did Jae-i have feelings for him even though she thought he was her brother? This part bothered and confused me  in the series—I wonder if it was portrayed the same way in the book.

Hi, I‘m sorry I have not read the book so I can’t answer. The thing with the tattoo going unnoticed, I also thought of this when I watched it but I guess plot convenience or because they weren’t as royal as king‘s family they didn’t check his whole body (usually in such kdramas you see the servants preparing their baths and clothing them and all). Your second point: I ignored that aspect of the story lol it was weird how they made him start flirting AFTER he made her believe fully he’s her brother

Jae-yi never believed that Hong Rong (fake) was her brother. Even when she was convinced, she still didn't believe it from the bottom of her heart. That's why she fell in love with him. For the tattoo, they never took off his clothes, they just checked some scars and marks, so there was no need for him to take off his clothes.

First of all, I was asking how these things were handled in the book. If it was the same there too, then thanks for the explanation. But not believing he was her brother is one thing, the possibility was always there—and until she found the pouch, she was never 100% sure. So I’m sorry, but I’m not really buying that part. And with the tattoo situation—wasn’t it at least a little odd that they ran all those medical tests and never once uncovered any part of his body? That just didn’t sit right with me. I genuinely enjoyed and was moved by the series, but I don’t think that should stop us from talking about the parts that didn’t quite make sense
