He was kicked off the team because he wouldn't appear at commercial/sponsored events and interviews. His lack of publicity was not making any money for the team through endorsement and appearance fees. The reason he refused to appear in public was due to his hidden identity and to avoid being found by his family.
He was kicked out cuz they were not making any money even tho the team was the best they made the lest amount of funds. They thought a new, younger guy could be the "face" of the team and make them more money. Other than that, money is never an issues again and you don't see how endorsements are used differently. Its really just the easy way to get the show going. Also, even tho he was still good as one of the eldest players his time was running out.
There were some reasons of why Ye Xiu (a.ka. Ye Qiu) was forced to retire :
1. Ye Xiu hid his identity (always wearing black face mask) because he used Ye Qiu ID to play. (in drama and novel)
2. Because of the first reason, he avoided publicity, including pers conference, advertizing, public sponsorship that required solo show. etc, which for the company that invested to JiaShi the biggest turning off of the benefit (ie.money). Remember that the cost of daily life, training, computers and gadgets, ransom, cars, flights, hotels and accomodation for the team when entering events or competitions were all handled by Jiashi. So if the expenditure was more than the income, that was really bad for the company finance balance. (in drama and novel)
3. Actually team Jiashi under Ye Xiu (a.ka Ye Qiu / One Autumn Leaf) only winning in season 1-3 of Pro Alliance League. JiaShi suffered four consecutive losses in season 4-7 because of many bad members (bad in attitude) which Ye Xiu was difficult to handle. In Season 8, Ye Xiu was forced to retire ( in novel).
Hope this help
