Theories about who the Joker may be

After all this discussion and hype , joker was just  a guy who got beaten up by housewifes .  I get it the story is not about the investigation and its mainly about the drama , motherhood , fatherhood, romance ,friendship etc .. But , adding that scene for a 20 long episode drama , i can't seem to accept it ..
