I don't think it's about copyright. In the third drama, there are a lot of names taken directly from the novel, so it's unclear for what reason the main couple's names were changed. Not to mention that this isn't the first drama adapted from this author's novels. I've also heard that the third novel wasn't completed (or was finished but left unedited), and the copyright was sold to iQIYI. The script has little in common with the original text—just some names, certain fragments of the story, and, to some extent, the world-building. Perhaps the story of Tianzi and Yue Mi is similar, but so far only in a very distant way.

I'm confused. So in the original ALP / MM Universe, 

Tian Qi / Jing Yuan / Fan Yue didn't have feelings for Yue Mi / Xing Yue / Bai Shuo at first?

What about in Moonlight Mystique universe -- does he likes Xing Yue in the novel/drama first or he only had feelings for Shang Gu?

Watch ALP ep 31. Hou Chi saves Bai Shuo. Bai Shuo was already alive before Tian Qi died in the end. Fan Yue “saved” Bai Shuo as a child too in Moonlight Mystique. The storylines were changed and it proves that Fan Yue  could be a distant relative or he resembles Tian Qi.

The reason he wasn’t mentioned was because the writers already had Bai Shuo in the story line(by including her in Ancient Love Poetry).

If they mentioned Tian Qi too, that will confuse the entire story line as to how Fan Yue/Tian Qi is older than Bai Shuo.
