Cover Image Guidelines for Titles (Hong Kong)
These rules explain Hong Kong-specific requirements for selecting a main cover image for Hong Kong titles.
All general cover rules (official-only, integrity, orientation, scope, rejection cases, placeholders) are defined in the Global Cover Image Guidelines and apply here by default.
Language & Design Norms
Hong Kong promotional posters often differ visually from those of other regions.
Accepted and preferred examples include:
English-only posters when they were officially released as part of the original Hong Kong promotion
Minimal-text or graphic-forward designs, including posters with limited or no Chinese text
Posters whose design prioritizes imagery over dense typography or credits
Important clarification
Language density does not determine correctness
A poster is not invalid simply because it:
Uses English only
Contains minimal text
Does not follow Mainland China design conventions
What matters is official Hong Kong promotional intent, not language expectations.
Hong Kong Promotional Identity
The main cover image must reflect Hong Kong’s own promotional identity.
Use:
Posters officially released for the Hong Kong market
Visuals used in the original Hong Kong promotion by:
Broadcasters
Distributors
Production companies
Do not:
Replace Hong Kong posters with:
Mainland China promotional visuals
International redesigns
Platform-preferred alternatives
Even when multiple official posters exist, the correct main cover is the one that best represents the Hong Kong release identity.
