Beneficial Deviants

So there's a kdrama fascination with characters who are unable to participate fully in society because they deviate from the norm psychologically and morally. Perhaps they lack empathy because of a childhood surgery, or a trauma caused them to have antisocial personality disorder, or their upbringing was horrific. They are aberrant, abnormal, and in the eyes of society, deficient. Nevertheless, they are able to contribute to the integrity of society specifically because of their deviance.
