favourite LGBTQ+ shows

I have really high standards for dramas, so congrats to all titles that made it onto this list. I am still struggling with finding a GL I would like enough to put on this list, so if you have a recommendation, hit me up!

Some of the criteria the drama has to meet:
❀ likable main leads and their chemistry (I don't need kissing or NC scenes, sometimes pinning and longing is as powerful, but only when the actors have the chemistry)
❀ unique plot, interesting plot twist or amazing visuals (don't mean actors, mean CGI, lightning or camera shots)
❀ adult cast and mature themes are welcomed (but not shunned, because lots of shows are currently taking place at unis)
❀ no rape apologizing, no abuse romanticization (those behaviors have to be called out & the perpetrator has to be held responsible)

    1. Semantic Error

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    9.0

I don't know if I already rewatched it 6 or 7 times... Yeah, binged it once I found it exists. Fell in love with Suamchan duo to the point I bough the official Watcha photo book and I flip through it once in a while, especially when I have a bad day. I'm still hoping they will cast these two rascals as leads or a side couple in another drama.

  • Bad Buddy

    2. Bad Buddy

    Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    9.0

Such a feel good LGBTQ+ series I always recommend as non problematic BL drama for people to watch. Will it break your heart? Yes. Will you laugh? Yes. Does the main duo deserve you rooting for them? Absolutely hell yes. There's so many green flags in this show, it's a whole ass clover field.

  • I Feel You Linger in the Air: Uncut Version

    3. I Feel You Linger in the Air: Uncut Version

    Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

    9.0

You may see a pattern in the dramas I enjoy and this one in particular left me broken, even when I was too sceptic about it for the first 3 episodes... The storytelling is beautiful, bitter-sweet, heartbreaking, heart to heart, great cast and awesome chemistry of the main leads.

  • The Ex-Morning

    4. The Ex-Morning

    Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes

    9.0

    Yes.

(the traditional wedding is what bumped this up to 9, otherwise it would be solid 8)

  • I Hear the Sunspot

    5. I Hear the Sunspot

    Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

    8.5

I liked the manga, the movie was okay, but this show... I absolutely adore characters, that are loud and unapologetic such as Taichi is. I love Kouhei's mom, she's so chill. People been complaining about Motoki's acting, but honestly, he's doing great job considering the manga Kouhei often lacks any type of self-expression as he's learned to fade into the background, so he wouldn't stand out.

  • HIStory4: Close to You

    6. HIStory4: Close to You

    Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 20 episodes

    8.5

Forget about the totally inappropriate story of Ye Xing Si and Fu Yong Jie (it was interesting topic, but it was handled very badly and I wish Taiwanese producers would drop assault on someone intoxicated as a turning point in the story...) and focus on Teng Mu Ren and Li Cheng... That's the shit! I love the chemistry between Charles and Anson. I still can't get over how these two been friends for years and just decided to shoot a BL together.

  • The Time of Fever

    7. The Time of Fever

    Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes

    8.5

I was hoping for more with Go Hotae and Kim Donghee after finishing Unintentional Love Story. It's the second couple syndrom, I usually suffer from it too. What a delicious, bitter-sweet heartbreak it was. Perfect example of how yearning can be as powerful as kissing or any other type of intimacy between couples.

  • My Beautiful Man: Eternal

    8. My Beautiful Man: Eternal

    Japanese Movie - 2023

    8.5

Hira is a little bit autistic and madly obsessed with Kiyoi and Kiyoi has problems with accepting Hira's admiration to the point where he belittles him even thought he likes him too. Riku Hagiwara and Yusei Yagi did great job portraying two people with problems in communication, yet still being perfect for each other. Both of them are the 'beautiful men'. One wants to be a king and the other wants to treat him like a king. Not really a title you would expect on this list given the rules I set for it... But I am willing to break them this time, because both of them keep growing throughout the series.

  • Some More

    9. Some More

    Korean Movie - 2018

    8.5

With Korea giving a lot of short LGBTQ+ movies the bad ending, you gotta love the happy ending. I didn't even dare to hope for it, so it took me by surprise. I also love the characters they went with, we need more middle aged dudes in these types of shows.

  • Sotus

    10. Sotus

    Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes

    8.0

SOTUS was THE drama that got me into Thai BLs, when Thai BLs were still crawling around with diapers on. It's not perfect, but it has a great sentimental value which allows me to look past its shortcomings. I am absolutely ecstatic about having Krist & Singto back together, it's honestly the only positive thing that came out of 2025 so far.

  • Color Rush

    11. Color Rush

    Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes

    8.0

I love the concept, the OST. I was really disappointed by the second season, so I keep coming back to this one. I think the producers got too scared to go berserk with it as the story suggested it could and Hyun Jun being bullied off the show by netizens probably didn't help either.
