My Gems
Here lies the shows and movies, that really left an impression on me and that have shaped my journey.
This is an ever changing list. I don't change individual drama ratings I placed long ago, but just because something was a 10/10 two years ago doesn't mean it still remains a 10 relatively. That's why the list is jumbled up :)
Currently Sorted By: Rating order

I...Have...No...Words...To...Describe...This
I loved the writing and how fleshed out the main characters were, hell I even loved our main antagonist who we saw change and evolve as the years went and the protagonist's views on life change... I just UGHH it was soo good!
Score: 10/10

All I can say is that, this is the drama that roped my direct and extended family (a.k.a locals) into watching K-dramas

A cinematic masterpiece.

6. My Dearest
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
You're gonna be shocked to know this skyrocketed to a 10 right after seeing PT.2
I don't know if it's because I've been consumming quality dramas lately but, I had PT.1 at 8.5/10 as a placeholder because I expected PT.2 to come in and sweep me off my feet. They sadly eneded up switching places as this was the part that explored more interesting themes and gave time for character growth to be seen and understood as well as time for the viewers to breath in between tense plotlines/scenes (which is what caused the disconnect for me in pt.2). Just overall better executed...not that the second part was badly done, it just lagged a bit behind comparatively.
The overall show made me cry while also screaming for the amazing performance, likeable characters full of flaws and humanity behind them, from the main charater to the random extras. I love how they portrayed those in power, those in between the power struggle and even the invaders (I mean the Qing supporting cast, not the cartoonish soldiers walking around mouth open screaming we're evil...definetly not them).
You can tell the love for this story was there, the effort and hardwork of the writers and producer outshines a lot of the big budget kdramas out there. From the languages to the costumes...just muah.
My mom now thinks I'm crazy after finding me in tears at 3am in her living room.
Overall series is a 9/10 with PT.1 at a 10/10, would recommend for those strong of heart.

7. Sunny
Korean Movie - 2011
I love this movie so much and mostly because of the memories tied to it.
I cried so badly I had to call my then best friend to complain about how sad it made me. Then she proceeded to watched it, also cried her eyes out and called to complain back. Oh the memories~

8. Forgotten
Korean Movie - 2017

9. With You
Chinese Drama - 2016, 24 episodes
Will always be in my top 5 dramas no matter what you ask me. This was very touching and it felt so realistic and maybe that's why I fell for it.
The teenage years felt very grounded, yes this is a rom-com but it focused on so much more of what shapes a regular teenager's life. From family, to studies, to love, to friendships the writers were able to capture all that and more and explore it in a beautiful and nostalgic way

10. Eulachacha Waikiki

12. Be Melodramatic
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Awesome OST, if anyone ever ask me for the perfectly balanced drama, I'll always recommend this. There isn't one member of the main ensemble I didn't end up liking, in fat I became a fan of each and everyone of them.

13. Go Brother!

14. Mr. Queen
Korean Drama - 2020, 20 episodes
A rollercoaster of laughter and so many interesting moments, which is so baffling cause if you're like me you'd expect a ton of drama but instead we got the queen and king making us roll on the ground.
It's basically the drama that made me give period dramas a try, an it had to be the isekai'd drama lol. Would be a ten if not for the ending.

15. Pyramid Game
Korean Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I think this has to be my best watch in 2024 in terms of kdramas; it was really well written and I loved our main female lead. Although it had little discrepancies here and there, I know I will rremember this one as one of my most fun and thrilling watches of this year if not ever.

16. The Odd Family: Zombie on Sale
Korean Movie - 2019

17. Hi Venus
Chinese Drama - 2022, 24 episodes
You want fluffy? Skinship? Flirty but light on the drama? Barely any external conflict or dumb misunderstandings? Feel even more single and alone than before?
This is the drama for you lmao. Idk why it's not a 10, maybe caution for when I rewatch it?

18. The Trunk
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
I thought I disliked slowburns... until I saw this.
Some disliked it and I can see where they're coming from but I really enjoyed it as a binge watcher. Maybe my taste is changing...or the writers absolutely ATE.

19. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes
This has now joined my list of rewatchable series. I am now on my 3rd rewatch because it's that fluffy and just a pleasant boost of dopamine. I love you Yiyang's beautiful non ceurelean orbs.

20. Shanai Marriage Honey
Japanese Drama - 2020, 7 episodes
If you know you know.
I have rewatched this 4 times and it was released in 2020 (now 2022) meaning I've watched it 2 times since 2021. Bro I even went as far as to buy the untranslated manga cause it's that good and too short.

21. Go Ho's Starry Night
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
I wouldn't say this is my all time favorite and I'm sure there are dramas which surpass this one's ratings that I have watched, but I added this one here because of it's high rewatchability...goodness from the first time I saw it, I knew this was a rewatchable gem. I have seen it every year at least twice, it's become a staple for me
