The main source of this list is Douban, the largest and most used website for rating Movies and TV dramas in mainland China.

About this list:

• Basic qualification criteria for dramas to enter this list:
  • Minimum rating: 7.5+
  • Release years 1980–2020: must be rated by at least 100K users.
  • Release years 2021–2025: must be rated by at least 50K users.
• For seasonal dramas, a weighted average rating across seasons is used. Plus the following qualification criteria:
  • Better watch all seasons to understand the full plot:
    • At least one season must meet the full basic qualification criteria
    • All other seasons must have a 7.5+ rating
    • If any season fails to meet the 7.5 rating threshold, the entire drama is disqualified.
  • Can be watched independently: 
    • Any season listed as qualified must meet the full basic qualification criteria on its own.
