Dramas I caught up with in 2024

I totally get the hype now. Watching actors of such calibre and in a smartly-plotted costumed drama was absolute ecstasy in a Cdramaland filled with bad costumed dramas just there to serve as popularity vehicles for traffic stars.

The production quality was high, that's for sure, but to be honest the story was very predictable and towards the end I was rather bored. I didn't think that was possible with a creature feature, but I think I watched far too many and could predict every twist and turn in this drama!  

Just finished Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938, and it was a delight for Rang to finally get that happy ending he deserved. The first Nine Tailed was bittersweet and I felt shattered for his sake, even if it was a fitting ending for him. This drama was the perfect love letter for his character. 

Watched this during my Penang vacation and what a treat! It is as good as I remember it.

A uniquely structured drama where we get to see many good actors in one eight-episode package. Great story, albeit a tad preachy at times.

A different role for Cheng Yi, who often appears wuxia/xianxia. Some cases can be slow but overall a fascinating look into life in China.

Loved the mature romance in this drama and the villain is quite interesting too!

What I like about this drama is its anthological nature. You can watch 2 eps and then move on to something else if you like. It also gives you different perspectives of the pandemic and storytelling styles.

Really inspiring, though it drags at some bits, it's worth watching the show. Such a unique drama.
