Asian dramas I recommend, in no particular order, with short notes/comments.
-
1. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
MDZS drama version. I don't have to comment on this. If you know me, I've probably already talked about how good it is.
-
2. All of Us Are Dead
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
This is a popular one, it's been in the spotlight ever since it came out so you'll probably see all sorts of opinions on it. Don't read the reviews pls, just give it a chance because I liked it a lot.
-
3. Tunnel
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Can't really remember a lot about it but I remember liking it.
-
4. Happiness
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
I've never cheered on a straight couple more than these two I swear... There is something about their romance that is so refreshing, and I think it's because romance wasn't the most important, or even the second most important thing, in the drama. They had time to develop as characters, before they developed as lovers, if that makes sense.
-
5. Blind
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Good thriller/crime drama.
-
6. Save Me
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
I think one time I mentioned watching a drama about a cult that apparently traumatized my sister. Well, this is it. The way it depicted life in a cult... I swear I was so frustrated and angry watching this (but in a good way). Def recommend

7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
My second most favorite straight drama couple (there are currently only two on the list lol). Spoiler, not spoiler alert, at the beginning she has a crush on an... older man (not Old, but older...), and those parts gave me so much second-hand embarrassment, but you just need to get over that part. The rest is just really cute.

8. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Watch this and tell me it's not gay.
Jokes aside, great psychological thriller. This whole thing is just a big mind fuck. One of my favourite dramas.
-
9. Beyond Evil
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Already recommended..
-
10. The Guest
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
If you read anything about it and you're sceptical,,, don't be. This is on my I cried list, so you know it's good. No romance, and thank fucking god, it would've ruined the show.
-
11. Squid Game
Korean Drama - 2021, 9 episodes
A classic. It's short, so give it a try. Great critique of capitalism. Will give you context about what people are talking about when they say "It's like we're in the squid game" under posts about idk trump, palestine, or that shooting of civilians in bosnia
-
12. Signal
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Sigh, just watch it. This is about that infamous set of murders in Korea I told you about.
-
13. The Call
Korean Movie - 2020
That adaptation we talked about
-
14. Memories of Murder
Korean Movie - 2003
Another movie about those set of murders. Believe it or not, this was on TV... so I watched it w/ cro subs. It's a classic so I def recommend.
-
15. The Boy Next Door
Korean Drama - 2017, 15 episodes
This is just really fucking funny. and it's short. it's not gay, but it's gay... but it's not... but anything can be gay if you want it to be so i say it's gay
-
16. Train to Busan
Korean Movie - 2016
A classic. If you haven't watched this already what are you even doing??
-
17. Parasite
Korean Movie - 2019
I put it here bcs it's a classic and you have to watch it. Watched it on TV so I missed like the first 15ish minutes and never got around to rewatching it but i still loved it so much. The director is a genius btw, watch his other stuff too (i think he did Snowpiercer, which i didn't put on the list but i guess i recommend, i think he also did train to busan, and memories of murder)
