Japanese Time Travel

Fujinuma Satoru is an aspiring manga artist who has the ability to travel back in time moments before a life-threatening incident, in which he is able to prevent those from happening. When his mother is murdered by an unknown assailant, Satoru’s ability suddenly sends him back eighteen years to when he was still in elementary school, giving him the opportunity to prevent a kidnapping incident that took the lives of three of his childhood friends; two classmates and one young girl studying at a school nearby.

It is 8:23, a normal morning. On the train heading towards the city centre, most of the passengers are checking their smartphones, checking social media or watching videos. Everyone thinks that today will be the same as yesterday.  However, one of the train cars heading towards the city centre is suddenly warped to a desolate world in the future. The passengers are suddenly thrown into a world where smartphones, let alone social media, are useless. By chance or fate... the passengers on board begin a life of survival in order to survive.

Takemichi Hanagaki lives as a 26-year-old freeter. His life is basically miserable. One day, he learns from the news that Hinata Tachibana and her younger brother Naoto Tachibana were murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang. Takemichi Hanagaki is stunned by the news because Hinata Tachibana was his first love during his middle school days.

Hinata is murdered again by the Tokyo Manjikai Gang in front of Takemichi. In order to save Hinata, Takemichi travels 10 years back in time again. Takemichi has to change a key case that can save Hinata. The key case involves a sad incident that occurred to 6 men, who later formed the Tokyo Manjikai Gang.

The protagonist Kanbe Misa, who has always lived a life of a "supporting character" because she is too kind and always puts others first, believes in her best friend and husband and continues to do her best, but she loses her life due to their betrayal. However, she suddenly realizes that she has traveled back in time to 10 years ago. Misa plans revenge to ruin her former best friend and husband, but her encounter with Suzuki Wataru, a department manager with whom she had no connection in her first life, brings about a new change in Misa's heart as she seeks revenge...

Shinozaki Ayumi receives a strange call telling her that an earthquake will occur one hour from now. She hangs up the phone thinking it was just a prank call. But one hour later, she feels herself sway a little. When she turns on the television, she realises that what the caller said about the time and the epicentre was on the mark. After that, she receives another phone call from the same caller who identifies himself as Kazama. He says that he knows what will happen in the future because he went back to a certain spot from the future and made a fresh start in life. Calling this time travel “Repeat”, he invites Ayumi to be his guest. Besides Ayumi, Mori Keisuke and Tendo Taro are among the eight people who have been invited by Kazama to participate in “Repeat”. These eight people who are making a repeat as a result of past regrets, are hit with a series of unanticipated events. Tamura Shin is a young man who has been pursuing the mystery of the murder that his father, a police officer, caused and changed the fate of their family. Ever since his father’s arrest, Shin and his mother have been criticised by the public and have had to live in hiding.   One day, Shin is told by his beloved wife to try and give his father the benefit of the doubt, and he decides to meet his father, who is in prison. However, when he heads to the old crime scene, he is shrouded by a sudden mist and ends up going back in time to the past. Shin finds himself in the year 1989 – right before the murder took place. The crime scene has become a snowy village. At this village, Shin sees the war,m smiling faces of his own face. If he stops his father’s case, he will not lose his family. This spurs him to challenge the taboo of changing the past.

In 1985, Kyogoku is an unconventional but passionate to the point of overeagerness detective who has solved many cases. He corners a violent criminal called Kagura, but at that moment, a bomb planted by Kagura explodes, and Kyogoku slips into a coma for 30 years.   One day in 2015, Kyogoku suddenly wakes up and visits his wife, Kanako. However, she has remarried and rebuffs him. Just at the moment, he is behaving violently, he ends up getting arrested by a young detective, Mochizuki Ryota and brought to Yokohama Chuo Police Precinct, where he is reunited with his former junior Suzuki and boss Kujira. Kyogoku quickly returns to his position as a detective.   However, he cannot comprehend the latest gadgets and the “new wisdom”. He keeps ignoring modern rules without care and getting Ryota, who has been made his buddy, into trouble.

In June 2015, Kyogoku suddenly woke up after being in a coma for 30 years due to an accident during an investigation. It has been a year since he and the young detective, Mochizuki Ryota of Yokohama Chuo Police Precinct, drove the violent criminal called Kagura as well as the organisation Kyogoku was pursuing 30 years ago to destruction and closed this chapter from the past. Kyogoku and Ryota are still living together in the same place. Although Ryota and Yui have been dating for close to a year, Kyogoku stubbornly refuses to approve of their relationship.   In this one year, Kyogoku and Ryota have led the police in solving numerous heinous crimes. Ryota has also undergone an unbelievable transformation from a year ago. The investigation methods of the two of them occasionally create trouble. But because their arrest rate and contributions are the highest in the Kanagawa area right now, their maverick, overbearing behaviour is tolerated. They are the “stadium jumper and skinny macho” pair of the Yokohama Chuo district.

First side story shows a body swap between Ryota, Kyogoku, Yui and Kanako after an especially rowdy Christmas dinner, and second story tells about Ryota and Kyogoku going to the past.

Shuta, Saku and Michiru have been best friends since they were kids. Tragedy strikes the friends when during the winter of 2010, Saku dies from a heart attack. After Saku's death, Shuta and Michiru become more distant. On the second year anniversary of Saku's death, Shuta boards a train in the Enoshima subway. Somehow, Shuta travels back in time to 2010, before Saku died from a heart attack. Although Shuta is confused by the time change, he attempts to save Saku by changing the past.

Saburo, a high school student from modern times, is transported back to the Sengoku era (1549), where he meets a young Oda Nobunaga. Mistaken for Nobunaga, Saburo is taken to the Oda castle and begins living as the warlord. Lacking experience in battle and leadership, Saburo struggles to understand the Sengoku era’s values, causing friction with the vassals. Despite this, he and the Oda family edge closer to their dream of unifying the country.

"A world" - After graduating from a university, close friends Takashi Tsurug and Tomohiko Miwa begin work at a company which does brain research. One day, Tomohiko introduces Mayuko Tsuno as his girlfriend. Takashi is stunned. When he was a university student, Takashi saw Mayuko Tsuno every day on the train opposite from the one he rode. He became attracted to her back then.  "B world" - When Takashi Tsurug wakes up, his girlfriend Mayuko Tsuno makes breakfast as usual at his apartment. His friend Tomohiko Miwa introduced him to Mayuko and they have lived happily as a couple. Everything seems to be going smoothly, but Takashi begins to have doubts. Tomohiko, who worked with him at the same company, disappears and he can't discern if his memory is real or imaginary.

Takatoshi Minamiyama majors in art at a university in Kyoto. On the train to the school, he sees Emi Fukuju and falls in love with her at first sight. Gathering up all his courage, he speaks to her. They begin to date and enjoy happy days together, but Emi reveals her secret to him.

Students, including Nishino Aoi, take part in class and sports activities at a prestigious high school. Aoi is a member of the school's archery club. He practices archery studiously and doesn't socialise much with the other students. His childhood friend Seno Haruka is also a member of the archery club, but she worries about Aoi. One day, thunder strikes the school grounds. After that, the ordinary lives of the students change drastically. Many samurai descend on the school grounds. It appears that the entire school has travelled back in time to the Sengoku period. Making things worse, they realise that they are in the time right before the Battle of Okehazama takes place.

Aoi gets in an accident and finds herself one week in the past when she regains consciousness. Her childhood friend Riku says he went back in time to save her. But Riku's time-traveling involves a big secret.

Thanks to a headache pill he has on him, he is hired as an onmyoji by the emperor’s wife Nyogo Kokiden. She is a fearless woman and coldly analytical in her actions. She desires to have her son take the emperor's position

One day, Yuka Sekiguchi who is working at a real estate company, had to take over her grandmother's house and was asked to check for a hidden closet. Due to curiosity, she looked for it and found the hidden closet where she suddenly slips back in time to Edo clueless. She then meets Ukai Denzaburo, a policeman at Minamichi Police Station, who got her involved in an investigation of a murder and asked for her advice during the investigation due to his poor reasoning skills.

The next day, Yuuko suddenly dies... but she awakens in the year 1981. She visits the publisher with the other writer's manga which is to be a hit 10 years later. It leads her to the status of a successful manga writer. One day, she meets Ginko again...

The year is 1979, and Miyamoto Takumi's life suddenly changes when he meets a mysterious young man named Tokio at a park in Asakusa. The young man says, "I've come from the future. I'm your son, Tokio." Thinking it's some kind of bad joke, Takumi doesn't believe him at all. However, Tokio can predict the future, make strange machines, and shows Takumi strange powers. Takumi, who at first doesn't pay any mind to Tokio, slowly begins to believe him. Present-day, 2004. Miyamoto Tokio is suffering from a serious illness and is in between life and death. A father and son who cross the borders of space and time to meet 25 years in the past; 1979. They travel together to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, searching for Takumi's lover, Chizuru, who has disappeared. Takumi, who had been a bitter man, begins to grow as a human being through spending time with his son, who came from the world of the future. Throughout a strange two-week journey together, Tokio watches his father in his younger days and leaves him with an encouraging message.
