Thai GLs

I remember watching this when it came out! I died from FreenBecky's chemistry. Absolutely deceased. Also, I remember reading about the show online (I think I discovered lchat XD) and "learned" that they were dating in real life. And I was like, "wow no wonder their chemistry is so good on the show!" And then pretty quickly I learned that it was just delulu shippers. XD Take everything you read with a grain of salt.

I might re-watch this at some point. I know how much I loved it when it first came out, but I think having seen other GLs since then it wouldn't be as much of a standout. But who knows maybe I'll re-watch it and raise it's ranking. :D UPDATE: OMG I DID. I did re-watch and raise it from a 7 to an 8. :D :D It was so fun to re-watch. It's still a great show, totally stands up.

Thai GL Award: The age gap heard 'round the world

I was pretty annoyed with this show when I first started watching it. I thought Aneung was annoying and way too young. BUT, and I will steal this funny thing I heard from another person, "Faye is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen so I kept watching." XD It could be farther from the truth. The plot of this is pretty fucked up, but you know, you gotta take most of these GLs for what they are. Half of them based on are Chao Planoy novels, and I keep hearing how toxic those are. Haha, side note, but like is Chao Planoy on top of the world right now? Seriously. What a dream.

Anyway, yeah Faye is so charming it makes the series worth watching. I actually started watching this one again, and liked it better the second time around too. It sort of grows on you. 

Thai GL Award: Most satisfying scene (where Khun Neung shocks Aneung's grandma by being ML) 

Everyone will hate me for this, but this show was so unmemorable for me. Yes, the leads are gorgeous gorgeous, but I didn't feel the chemistry. I think objectively the show was pretty good. We see the first incarnation of "Lada's mom." Honestly I don't know, I can't tell you why it was a bit boring for me but it was. And like why was Rati at their wedding? XD XD XD

Thai GL Award: Most creative use of banoffee pie

FUCK I loved Affair. The jealousy, the pining, the THIRTEEN YEARS that Wan waited for Pleng. Jesus. I WISH I could live that. I have the heart for it, lol. Go get it Wan. Also, hands down the best kissing/love scenes. It really is the ASMR that makes all the difference! Other shows should take note.

Oh also this was the first time I saw "Pleng's house" so now every other show that uses thsi house (which I swear has been like 3 so far XD) is "Pleng's house." And so far we're going pretty strong with the theory that if you live in Pleng's Dad's house you do Pleng's Dad's crimes. XD

Thai GL Award: Best chemistry

I love this show!! I think it's underrated. However, I think the main reason I loved it was because Kris reminds me of me a lot. I felt so SEEN. This show was really cute overall.

Thai GL Award: Best comedy (seriously this show made me laugh a ton, especially in earlier episodes.) 

Hmmm I don't remember this one a ton!! I know I liked it though. It had Life is Strange vibes a bit with that supernatural element. And it was really sweet and I liked the characters. I think it's a bit underrated.

Oh The Loyal Pin, where do I even begin. This show was such a ride, but I honestly think 16 episodes was too much.. somehow I got a bit bored by the end, (although that was a fire speech by Anin about how her love was woven of the finest gold and silver threads! Girl get it.) By the time the last episode came out though I wasn't as invested in the story anymore. It could be better to watch though now that all the episodes are out! It really was a very good show.

Because of The Loyal Pin, I know how to say "burning desire" in Thai. I have carved a mango. I bought ingredients to make Royal Flower Dumplings (but okay I admit it I never made them.) I learned about all the different kinds of kisses from Anin. (That scene was insanely hot XD.)

Yeah idk, very cute show, well produced, FreenBecky did a great job. It was emotional, and I loved seeing how intense Anin was and how much she fought for them. There was years of pining and waiting and letter writing. The intimate scenes were great in a way but again I feel like it just kind of went on too long as a whole, and even those got boring. Maybe because I watched the entirety of Affair in the middle of The Loyal Pin airing and got spoiled by that. XD

Thai GL Award: Best action scene (Becky was just OUT THERE swimming in the ocean, come on.)

I still sing this to this day. I can't. I just can't. Can someone unlock my brain and take this song out of it?? XD This show was okay. Am I glad I watched it? Not really. Am I mad I watched it? Nah. It's definitely in it's own tier though and not in a good way.

Thai GL Award: The jobs were really jobbing

I love 23.5!!!! It's so freaking cute. I wasn't even going to watch this one because it's about high school students and I didn't think I would like it, but I liked it a lot. GMMTV brings the quality for sure. Lots of great side characters. Really great acting, especially by Milk. There wasn't some intense romance like on a lot of other shows, but this was funny and well made, adorable, and Sun is like the greenest flag in any of the shows. There was also such a great lesson! Don't make decisions for other people based on what you think is best for them--ASK THEM and LISTEN. I felt so freaking validated when Sun told Ongsa she didn't understand her at all and broke up with her. I never had the courage to do that.

Oh but damn what a low point when Ongsa was watching Sun be sad all night on the swing set waiting for "EARTH" to show up. Girl how could you. But eh, they're kids. Kids do dumb shit and learn from it. That's what being a kid is all about.

Thai GL Award: Best t-shirt slogans ("avocado" XD)

PLUTO! I freaking love Pluto. If it weren't for Affair this would be my favorite. The plot was really plotting on this one. Great acting. Good side characters and family dynamics. So many twists and turns! Hot damn, when May said, "The one I love is Ai-oon," CHILLS. I get chills even thinking back on it. She fucking knew everything. I do feel bad though how much pain that all caused for Ai that didn't seen necessary. Great slow burn though and build up, and all the drama. I loved it. And again GMMTV production quality is top notch.

The one gripe I have is that somebody royally fucked up what should have been one of the most satisfying scenes in the whole series, in episode 11 when all of the truth finally comes out between them. What happened with the lighting in that scene?? So bad and distracting the way they shot and edited it. NamtanFilm acted their asses off in that scene too. I think Film has the most realistic crying scenes I've seen so far. I really felt her on those.

This show has a place in my heart, even though it was kind of a hot mess. XD

That scene where Luktarn is like "oh I have tried lemon, too," ICONIC. Anda's smile, ICONIC. P'Gyo finding every excuse to just literally fall down and need help, ICONIC. All the junior/senior stuff was so bizarre--is that how it is in universities in Thailand? That was a lot of hazing. Many things about this show were confusing, but you know what you just gotta roll with it and enjoy all the things that were cute about it. It was a fun show to watch.

Thai GL Award: Best theme song (no seriously this is a banger theme song, I still listen to it regularly!!)

Oh boy the jobs were jobbing on this show too. I think I was halfway through the episodes before they actually confirmed that they were using their engineering degrees at their jobs. Very little made sense about these special episodes, but they were pretty cute. Not as strong as the main series I think.

Thai GL Award: Highest percentage of female engineers at a company in history

Mate was really good! The chemistry was pretty great. Gen can boss me around any ole' day. I actually liked the BL side couple too, which was not on anybody's bingo card. And Gen's mom was cool! The theme song is so good too, one of my favs.

The thing about this show is that the last few episodes are ROUGH. It was really really hard to watch the long cacophony of bad decisions that Gen made, and how much it hurt Oaey. 

Thai GL Award: Most significant stuffed animal

Okay okay okay, so this was really cute. I didn't love it, but Englot is adorable. And it was fun to learn more about Miss Grand and their backstory as well. I am not someone who was around back in the day to ship them as it was all happening, so yeah this was cute. I was surprised how close it was to reality in certain ways! Really cool.

But.. yeah it's not the highest quality show. XD

Petrichor was so good! I actually won't put any spoilers here because spoilers make a difference for this show. But yeah, the twists and turns were cool. Definitely Englot's best show yet. I thought everyone did a great job; great side characters. It didn't feel like it was 100% a Thai GL because the romance took a backseat to the mystery. But it was still a nice romance as well.

Thai GL Award: Most times I had to look away from the screen because of GORE, Jesus

Soooo I have very mixed feelings about this show. It was hard to get through, especially the first 5 episodes. In episode 6 they hit you with some backstory that is the first time you actually get to see how this couple feels about each other, and why they act the way they do. It felt boring before that, and nothing made sense. After that, the rest of the series picks up and is better overall.

Having watched the whole series, looking back on it I really like their story. FMVs of this show are some of my favorites. It's kind of weird because it didn't feel like one of my favorites as I was watching it, and I'm not sure I can recommend it to other people, but it has a really special place in my heart and for some reason WanKim is one of my favorite couples. <3

Thai GL Award: Absolute longest wait for the couple to get together (EPISODE ELEVEN)

Wow, just wow. Stroll by my house and you may just hear me performing Between Us, cooking MAMA ramen noodles, and printing out a new custom phone case with PamRak on it. Yeah, I got obsessed. This is my new favorite Thai GL and has set a new bar. I seriously wonder if/when a show will be able to top this one. It doesn't have spicy drama between the main couple, but it has pretty much everything else. I have so many positive things to say I don't even know what to include or not include so I'll leave it at that.

Thai GL Award: BEST THAI GL

Like, I have no idea what to say about Love Bully. What did I just watch? I don't know. Did I like it? I don't know. I had fun watching it. But like what the fuck was that.

Thai GL Award: The way that Engfa shook that cocktail shaker like she was in a pageant deserves an award. I don't know how, but she shook it like a pageant queen. Go back and watch it if you don't believe me. It's giving pageant.

Girl, this was a weird show. There were things I liked about it. It started off pretty strong! The OST is a total jam and I listen to it regularly. Karan is absolutley swoonworthy. But.. the chemistry wasn't exactly combusting and their relationship didn't make a ton of sense or even get a lot of screentime to develop. The plot was kind of all over the place. Yeah idk, I wanted to like it but for me it just wasn't great.

Thai GL Award: They both literally became doctors for each other even though presumably no one had any interest in being a doctor ???

This was so boring. But it was the last Thai GL I hadn't seen yet that people talk about, so I watched it. It was pretty short. There were some cute moments.

Thai GL Award: This Thai GL was so bad that even my best friend said it was bad and she is so nice

I didn't like this as much as the original Apple, but it was still good!! The micro-episode format is kind of annoying, and I think the show started off slow and ended kinda slow, but I liked a lot of stuff in the middle. The drama with Tiwa was fun to watch, (and I lowkey was rooting for Tiwa ?) and the side couple ended up being compelling as well. Should Kris and Karn be together? I don't know. Are they getting married anyway? Hell yes they are. And all is as it should be. ?

Thai GL award goes to "Norway!" :D 

In a surprising turn of events, Music Story: Losing Control was actually a fantastic hot mess of a show. (Season 2 was not as good as Season 1, but still worth watching.) If you ever wanted to see BMine play a sugar daddy this is the show for you. Unhinged in the best way, and season 2 basically becomes a crack fic.

Cute show, well made as is typically from GMMTV. I enjoyed it, but it didn't really leave much of an impression on me overall. There wasn't a lot of drama and it all seemed to get resolved pretty quickly and easily. The chemistry was just okay. There were a lot of side characters and I didn't feel like any of the characters got fleshed out enough, including the main ones.

That whistle scene though!! That was definitely up there with the most heartbreaking scenes. ?

Thai GL Award: Most stressed out cat (seriously is Som okay??)

On Air, and I really couldn't be more excited. I think LMSY must be my favorite cp.

On Air. This show is so good!! Everyone is losing their minds for Loft.  XD I'm actually rooting for Pure/Air--you can just feel the love and history between them whenever they're on screen!

On Air. Super fun to watch. I am glad everyone is loving this one more than Dream!!

On Air. It's.. okay. It's cute at times. The quality is not great, but I'm enjoying it more as it goes on.

On Air. Okay now THIS, THIS is criminally underrated right now. I barely had this show on my radar and I'm already calling it--this is going to be my new #1 best Thai GL. Everything about it is a cut above. I can't wait to watch more.

Oh my gosh, I loved this one!!! I didn't think I would like it so much, but it was extremely cute and relatable. Their acting and chemistry was really good, and Mr. Teacups is the best dad!!! The show didn't have a ton going on really, and I think that's something that I liked about it. It just showed a lot of scenes of the main couple and their relationship. I love both of them and I'm excited for the special episodes coming out later!

What ever happened to Mookhem though??? We demand answers!!! Also did anyone else find it hilarious that Khem got to wear whatever the fuck she wanted to work while everyone else clearly had to wear uniforms? XD
