Non-romances to try

Viki - 40*40min

Chinese het rom

More a wuxia than a romance, honestly. What stand out the most is the strong friendship bonds between the ML and the Shrek Devils, not the romance. It was really good though! But it is clear that the ending is a TBC and that you need to watch the sequel if you want a true ending.

9.0 - Chinese het rom/thriller - Viki - 30*40min - I really liked it. I just got an issue with the ending, with the whole ML sacrificing himself for the bad guy and supposedly getting destroyed with the game... But wait! we can bring him back, but he might get amnesia, and of course, he GOT amnesia! That was a bit too much. I admit. But up until then, I really liked it. I'll have to note the point at which I should stop watching if I watch it again to avoid the sucky ending. But it was great, with both the FL and ML being strong in their own right and respecting each other's strength while helping each other too. Even the character/characters I loathed at the beginning had epic developments and I ended up liking them quite a bit.

8.5 - Chinese fantasy - Viki - 32*45min - I liked it a lot. I got a bit confused with the lore at some points, but I still found the series enjoyable.

7.5 - Historical intrigue - Viki - 54*45min - Maybe I should have given it a better rating, but the ending really pissed me off. I understand that in real life not everything can workout the way we want it. But the way the show ended was just bitter for me and left me with a bad feeling.

Wuxia mystery adventure

China

8.0

(MDL) Zhan Zhao, now a fourth-rank imperial guard, receives evidence from an old friend about an unsolved case and sets out on a quest to uncover the truth. He encounters attacks from various factions, and along the way, he meets Huo Ling Long, the talented and unyielding daughter of Linglong Villa, and Bai Yu Tang, the passionate and ruthless "Golden-Haired Rat." These like-minded individuals pursue clues, fight for justice, apprehend criminals, and tear apart the web of influence Prince Xiang Yang has woven across the court and the underworld.Adapted from the novel "Yu Lin Ling" (雨霖铃) by minifish, an interpretation of "The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants".

ON-HOLD! Waiting for the last few episodes. I’ll finish it, but it has been feeling draggy for a while and I’m glad it’s almost done, although I have no idea how the series can possibly end in just 4 episodes. I feel a rushed and botched ending coming.

I'm really disappointed since I really like the ML actor in The Untamed, but his character here piss me off/confuse me. Like, 3 grown men spent years training you and educating you so you could get your revenge, but you never asked why? You never question their motives even when one of them came out of nowhere to "save" you when you were a kid and then once again when you tried killing your enemy for the first time? I think I would have questioned long ago if they weren't using me for their own gain. And he seems so smart sometimes but so dumb at others.

It could have been really great, but for me, it was a flop. I just can't stand Fang Duobing. I understand he's supposed to bring comic relief to the story, but at some point, it's not called being naive anymore. It's called just being plain dumb.

Ok. maybe I should try and give more of a shot to the series, but after just 3 episodes, I'm really confused by everything that is happening and why it is happening. Also, pretty much all the characters really bug me for a reason or another.

How can I have watched almost the whole series and still not understand what is the point of the series? The ML only seems to be an egocentric person that only cares about getting stronger and is apathetic to everything and everyone else around him.
