Verticals with redeeming and/or memorable qualities
Mostly this list is to keep track of verticals that I might want to revisit or show some aspect to someone. I'm not planning on reviewing them, but I'll probably comment on what got them on the list. My rating system for verticals puts an overall-average drama in the 4-6 range. It's possible that "shockingly bad" might end up on this list, because there are times when you want to see how bad bad can really be....
I basically only watch on IQIYI so all of these are available there (at least at the time that I put them on the list)

1. CEO's Arrange Bride
Chinese Drama - 2025, 85 episodes
This show is a decent entry into the romance category even outside the vertical subcategory. Definitely worth a watch if you like watching well-crafted characters fall in love. The pace is slow; it's a slice of life with a mellow feel. The story moves forward through moments of character change or realization rather that being event focused. It makes fantastic use of the short form to present the slice of life feel.
I have a more indepth review of this on my review page.

2. Depth of Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 72 episodes
I mean, good chemistry, fun couple. There was some medical nonsense in the service of a happy ending, but it was pretty enjoyable despite that. I loved that there is a change-of-look for the female lead that has everyone confused except for the male lead who apparently always knew she was hot.

3. Mr. Gu, Your Child Is Here
Chinese Drama - 2024, 60 episodes
This show has the cutest child actor. She's got fantastic comic expressions and just is overall super cute. I loved the blend of magic cultivation masters (xianxia stuff) and modern CEO drama. Sometimes the sequences go a bit long and it can be a bit repetative, but overall, I really enjoyed this one.

4. Zhen Qian Jin Ta Shi Xue Ba
Chinese Drama - 2025, 60 episodes
Loved the dynamic where the lead has "normal" reactions and keeps saying logical things while the people around her live in vertical drama nonsense world. Hilarious. The sequal is equally fun, so if you like this one it's worth finding the second.

5. Go Big in This High-Stakes Game
Chinese Drama - 2024, 97 episodes
On here for the styling/overall look, slight twist on character reactions to standard plot points, and quick-but-coherent pacing. The story is extremely standard, but the characters feel fresh, the FL's expressions are great, and the pacing of the scenes is snappy and quick. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I weren't already so familiar with this general storyline

6. The Netherworld King's Love
Chinese Drama - 2025, 57 episodes
Netherworld King's Love on IQIYI. Loved that he never lies (esp. episode 5 when giving his marrigable details). An overall fun romance with a fantasy flair. Cute kids.

7. Ba Ling Lao Gong Hen Chun Qing
Chinese Drama - 2025, 60 episodes
Pretty generic story, but transmigrated to the 80s, so a bit of a different flavour especially visually. Very unusual acknowledgement that activity during pregnancy is good and a delicate bump does not generally cause miscarriage (yes, that's a pet peeve for me ;P )

8. The Mafia Boss's Country Girl
Chinese Drama - 2025, 73 episodes
I love a "strong female lead, secretly strong but apparently weak male lead" dynamic. This version the man's "weakness" is his (assumed) poverty. This is not my favourite version of the dynamic, but it's okay, and the man's strength has a bit of a fantasy twist that I like. Some amusing moments.
