Watched this before my Hyo Joo obsession kicked in, and in fact I had no idea she was even in it. I do love her connection Kim You Jung, but eventually I hope they get to be in the same room together in a film or drama, as mother/daughter or as sisters.

The drama that started my Han Hyo Joo obsession, I blame the glasses. It was almost perfect, I just think the ending was a little rushed.

    3. Illang: The Wolf Brigade

    Korean Movie - 2018

It'd have been better if it had leaned on the romance more.

  • The Pirates 2: The Last Royal Treasure

This was a lot more fun than I expected, especially considering I didn't watch the first film, but Hyo Joo and Kang Ha Neul were a cute couple and the action scenes were pretty well-done. A solid watch!

A lovely romcom with a couple that actually has chemistry. We love a well-done representation of a person with a disability and we love So Ji Sub, our pro-Palestine king.

  • Love 911

    6. Love 911

    Korean Movie - 2012

Rude male leads only work when you have an equally crazy female lead, which is exactly why this romcom is pretty solid.

  • Happiness

    7. Happiness

    Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    8.5
    • Finished on Oct 3, 2023

Confining a drama to an apartment building could'be been a huge mistake, but Happiness does the zombie story really well, I just wish we had more couple/romantic moments between the lead couple, but I understand the story is more action and less romance.

  • Iljimae

    8. Iljimae

    Korean Drama - 2008, 20 episodes

The tone of this drama was so odd, one second the male lead was in dispair, the next the side characters would be making poop jokes. Maybe if we spent less time on these dumb "plots" and more time on the female lead and her relationship with the male lead then maybe this drama would've been good.

  • Masquerade

Despite not liking Lee Byung Hun (cheaters should choke!), I can't deny he and Hyo Joo were a funny duo in a likewise fun film.

  • Cold Eyes

Imagine my shock when I found out this is one of the highest-grossing films of all time in South Korea AND the reason why Hyo Joo has a Blue Dragon Film Award. I don't know what Koreans saw in it, I was bored from beginning to end.

Started out well enough, but I didn't think the male lead had any charisma at all, so it lost me completely.

The female lead was infinitely more interesting than any of the men, so the film would've been much better if the focus was on her.

So Yul did nothing wrong and I stand by that!

  • Golden Slumber

The only true good thing about this film being Lee Hi's Golden Slumber cover.

  • Spring Waltz

    15. Spring Waltz

    Korean Drama - 2006, 20 episodes

    4.0
    • Finished on Oct 31, 2023

The typical 2000s Korean Drama with all the tropes you can imagine. I can overlook these tropes if the chemistry between the leads is good, but sadly there was no passion/emotion here.

  • Ride Away

    16. Ride Away

Genuinely forgettable, and in a way that's worst than being bad.

  • Ad-Lib Night

    17. Ad-Lib Night

Pretty basic independent film with nothing really special to it.

  • Believer 2

Hyo Joo's first villain and I'm not sure I liked it very much, she had great moments, but I didn't hated her decision (or the director's decision) to be always playing with her mouth/tongue. I hope I get to see her do another role like this eventually though, to see how much she evolves.

Genuinely can't understand why at a point in time everyone agreed that men being rude to women was romantic and a sign that he is falling in love. I'll never enjoy the trope of the "man who learns to be kind because of love".

  • Dong Yi

    20. Dong Yi

    Korean Drama - 2010, 60 episodes

    8.5
    • Finished on Dec 4, 2023

One of the best historical dramas I've seen, the romance and the evil deeds of the second female lead worked so perfectly that my only complaint is that I wish we had spent more time with them and less time with the side characters.

I'm not a Park Hae Jin fan, I usually come out of his dramas not seeing any chemistry between him and the women he plays along, and this was not an exception. Beyond there, none of the subplots were nearly interesting enough to make up for it.

  • The Sun Does Not Move

    22. The Sun Does Not Move

    Japanese Movie - 2021

The problem is that the film wasn't about Hyo Joo and Byun Yo Han, they had so much chemistry despite having small roles, I need them in a romcom.

  • My Dear Enemy

    23. My Dear Enemy

I genuinely missed Hyo Joo's cameo in this film, I went back a couple times to see if I could catch it, but I have no idea when she shows up.

Cringey as hell, so let's just all pretend this isn't part of Hyo Joo's filmography.

  • My Boss, My Teacher

    25. My Boss, My Teacher

    Korean Movie - 2006

Even in 2006 we as a society were already over female characters being used to further the a male character's plot and life change.
