Notes: Neither mom or I liked it. Slow, no character development (for most of the characters), too many things were told/explained long after they'd happened. Felt like someone tried to explained what "really happened" in a condescending way. Bad narrative and a tropy, unbalanced script. The actors did what they could but not even this cast could save the script. The chemistry between the actors was clearly there but something was always interfering with it, so maybe the director had a bad year as well... The OST was good and the little tea lessons after most episodes was sweet.

Notes: Ends with a cliffhanger because only the first part is filmed. There's another series, The Land of the Warriors, that has the second and third part filmed. This is however not a clean break because DC didn't follow the source material all that closely, and the new series does. That means that things won't line up with story and some of the characters powers. The new series has solved the problem with not filming the first part with flashbacks to important key plots. So what the viewer gains in a good adaption is that they don't really get the close bond that is formed during the characters younger years, but is made up for in a correct adaption. But the new adaption doesn't have Xiao Zhan, haha.

Watching both can be confusing since they don't line up. Could still be worth it but choosing one of them would be best.
