1. The Blood of Youth
Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes
Jan : Recommended by TianD
Final Thoughts : This is a wuxia story that follows a group of young, skilled martial artists whose lives become intertwined who get thrown together by fate. Despite their differences, they learn the true meaning of friendship and loyalty as they face challenges and dangerous enemies. Along the way, they grow stronger not just as fighters, but as a team, realizing that their bonds can be even more powerful than their individual skills.
The fight scenes were insanely good. You can see the actors did put a lot of effort into following the choreography! It shows ! But where it lacks is the CGI ! It kind of looks unfinished and unpolished. After Dashing Youth, I am wondering what if TBOY had the budget of DY, this would have been maybe a 10 from me. Just a thought !
Also, I needed more Wuxin! The guy was comically unhinged and smart. After DY, knowing Ye Ding Zhi's story, I had a soft spot for him and I hope he has more screentime in season 2!
But overall, this was a very entertaining watch! The story might feel slow and low budget at the start but it slowly grows on you!Feeds Post : https://kisskh.at/profile/Jojo7/feeds/DeBZLtO

2. Light Shop
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Feb :Recommended by Marina
Final Thoughts : ✅ Light Shop is a story about those who are lost and overlooked, each character trapped in their own personal struggles and torment. The characters are trapped in a constant cycle of despair, overwhelmed by their inner demons and unable to break free from the darkness surrounding them. They are caught in a state of isolation where their cries for help go unheard and there is no one to offer them comfort or understanding.
The story delves into the complexity of their experiences, revealing how deeply their emotional pain impacts their ability to connect with others. At its core, it is just a tale of loneliness, isolation and internal conflict.
✅ For me, this had a totally fresh storyline that felt different from what I usually watch. It took me down a path I didn’t expect, diving into some pretty heavy emotional stuff. The acting was solid across the board and each character’s pain really came through. Honestly, I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.
⚠️ I wish the flow of the story had been a bit more smoother. While I understand the artistic choice behind the fragmented style where the story was meant to come together later or as we go on, I can't help but feel that a more continuous narrative would have made it feel more cohesive and have a better impact.
⚠️ This wasn’t really binge-worthy for me. I’m not a fan of the horror or eerie atmosphere series, so it was tough to watch in one sitting. It also felt quite heavy and honestly, I found it more sad than scary.Feeds Post : https://kisskh.at/profile/Jojo7/feeds/A8lPrfA

3. When My Love Blooms
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
March: Recommended by Hinata Caboose
✅ This is one of the slow burns ( a mood watch though) and i enjoyed it for the most part.
✅ The transition between past and present was done very smoothly. The parallels they drew was done nicely and it actually increased the impact of a few scenes in the present.
✅ In terms of acting, Jinyoung and Jeon So Nee stole the show for me. Their chemistry was undeniable - playful, fresh and full of energy. Their connection felt natural, capturing that excitement and spontaneity of young love. Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Bo Young also gave good performances, but their chemistry felt more subdued in comparison.
⚠️ The pace was pretty slow. While I do like slow burns, I couldn't binge this. But again this isn't a hard no (❌) because it sounds more like a me problem.
⚠️ There was more focus on the older version, but I wish they had balanced the screen time between both the older and younger versions, as I enjoyed the younger version more. If the drama had focused solely on them, maybe I would have rated it much higher. The chemistry between the present Han Jae Hyun and Yoon Ji So was on and off. Compared to the younger self, they felt a tad bit pale.
❌ This would have worked out better if it was a 10 or 12 episodes drama instead of 16 because towards the end it kind of dragged on and stretched unnecessarily to the point it started feeling a bit boring.Feeds Post : https://kisskh.at/profile/Jojo7/feeds/mwg7KCW

4. Queen and I
Korean Drama - 2012, 16 episodes
April : Recommended by Karma.
Another historical - modern day time travelling drama that took me 31 days to finish! Honestly, I enjoyed the modern day segments though some of the humor felt a bit dated. Also, 16 episodes were too many for this. 8 episodes would have been sufficient!
The Joseon-era political storyline just didn’t work for me. It felt slow and dull. I really enjoyed the modern-day scenes, but once the male lead traveled back to his time, the drama lost its spark for me. The story got weighed down by all the historical drama and political scheming, and honestly, some of it felt completely forced and I just wasn't invested.
And since the historical arc made up such a major part of the story, it ended up dragging down the overall experience for me. As much as I enjoyed the modern elements, I couldn’t rate the drama any higher because I just didn’t connect with such a big chunk of it.
Also, I’m not really into older dramas, this one is from 2012. I just don’t enjoy shows that look dated or have that low-res feel. Plus, I had to go full Jack Sparrow mode on a bunch of sites just to find a version that wasn’t totally blurry. It’s not a deal breaker or anything, but it’s more of a personal preference thing that made it harder for me to get into this drama.
The leads had decent chemistry not fireworks, but enough to keep things cute. That said, it was packed with all the classic rom-com clichés you’d expect. I necessarily didn't enjoy the Amensia arc and how the FL treated SML during that time!
Overall, this one was more of a miss than a hit for me. I really tried to get into it, took breaks, tried to come back with the right vibe to mood-watch it properly but it wasn't meant to be I guess. I feel a little guilty rating it this low but ...Feeds Post : https://kisskh.at/profile/Jojo7/feeds/8El8Xu6

5. A Tale of Love and Loyalty
Chinese Drama - 2024, 20 episodes
May : Recommended by Grumpy Witch
Blame it on my costume drama slump and that distracting background music, I just couldn’t rate this any higher.
This drama was angsty to a T. And while I love a good serving of angst, some of it felt… unnecessarily very extra. Like, did we really need that much emotional chaos? The premise was FL honouring her sister’s dying wish by marrying her husband, it felt like something pulled from Wattpad. Add in some head scratching palace politics and it didn’t exactly win me over on logic.
But then Richard Li showed up with his IDGAF attitude and suddenly things started to click. Or at least, I stopped caring that they didn’t.
It actually started out with potential, but the editing was very choppy. And yes, it was surprisingly spicy for a C-drama, not that I’m complaining. I might have rewatched a few of those scenes. For plot reasons, of course.
The acting was solid and while the dubbing wobbled a bit, it wasn’t bad enough to take me out of it completely. But that background music? It kept sneaking in. Half the time it was drowning out the dialogue. I get that it's a mini-drama, but that choice of music and the decision of when to play it , made it look more cheap.
And the ending? NO.
Overall, for a one-time watch, I did enjoy it enough to binge it like a movie (well, in two sittings, but close enough). It’s the kind of show where you roll your eyes and hit play anyway.Feeds Post : https://kisskh.at/profile/Jojo7/feeds/JdnLZuR
