Shows with risk of death

this is probably top 3 most popular BLs of all time and for good reason. it's both the best show ever and the worst, frequently in the very same episode! it's about Porsche, who finds himself dragged into the world of the Thai mafia and the simmering feud between the major and minor families. he develops complicated feelings for Kinn, the heir of the major family he's been assigned to protect. 

very spicy!! visible ass and all. 

tw for extremely dubious consent between the main characters, including BDSM that is neither safe nor sane!! and also hella violence and death

this is actually a canon poly m/m/f relationship!! 

miw, a bar manager; neo, a stripper; and shin, the sheltered son of a mafia boss, find themselves on the run together when a gun goes off and a man is left dead. 

meanwhile, mae - the girlfriend of the man now lying dead- teams up with ter, his best friend, to track down the people responsible for the death of the love of her life. 

this show is so JUICY. the plot is plotty, the cinematography is so sultry and fun, and the female leads are characterized really well. 

fair warning, the ultimate negotiation of the poly relationship as the story wraps up leaves a LOT to be desired. but. they really are canonically very in love with each other, the 3 of them, all throughout the show. 

trigger warnings for violence, rape (not between the main characters)

this one is airing right now and im sooooo hooked. made by the same people who made kinnporsche, with some of the same lead actors. the plot is going OFF, the production quality is stupid high for a BL, and the chemistry is satisfying as fuck. i am a scholar of this show!!!

tw for seedy underbelly stuff. you know. gore and death and who knows what else will happen

veeerrry different vibe from the other titles of this list. 

it takes place in a high school setting, but has a sort of fantasy element where the main character is essentially transported 10 years into the past inside a visual novel video game. it's not "gorey" like the others on this list, but does get into serious themes of suicidal ideation. 

also, depending on how you look at the time travel aspect, there is either a really uncomfortable age gap here (27 and 17) or no age gap at all (17 and 17). i preferred to interpret it as the latter kjzskfjsd

another thai classic. it's a murder mystery vibe starring a medical examiner and some suspicious guy (obviously, they end up smoochey smoochey). it takes place in the thai countryside, which is always really cool to see. the main acting pair was at one point called the "kings of BL" so you know they have great chemistry

this one is a movie! 

made by the same people who made kinnporsche, with the same main pairing (although they don't actually get very romantic in this movie)

this one is actually genuinely good (like, not just by BL standards LOL). it actually was aired at cannes! the production quality is SUMPTUOUS!! 

it's a historical drama taking place in the policitally tense atmosphere of 1800s thailand. the historical aspect and artistry alone definitely make this one worth a watch.
