Let's get Vertical

100% get why this drama forced everyone to rethink their view of the format : yep, it's that good. Beware horizontal shows, verticals are coming. 

My kind of pretentiously artsy vertical that wants to be "more". ZZD and Zuo Yi's chemistry is out of this world. 

High quality vertical about trauma and trust, casting, direction and script are top notch. 

Ben Wang is dreamy, Guo Yu Xin looks like a princess, plot is more or less steamy Skip Beat, what's not to adore ?

Behind the very cheesy title hides an intricate reluctant sugar daddy VS hellbent heroïne story, both trapped in a deliciously toxic hate-love relationship that surpassed my expectations. Zhai Shi Fan is a director to keep an eye on. 

Excellent ZZD drama that focuses on the mending part of the "captured by the boss" plot. 

Classy and striking undercover romance serving quality acting, plot and direction, taking inspiration from big movies (also a great villain has to be mentioned as it does so much to elevate the story). 

Great execution of a tired plot, very atmospheric and classy. 

Super fun kinky romance with a two-faced ML who's more than happy to submit to a gorgeous and charismatic Hou Cheng Yue. 

A mysterious manor, the dangerously attractive boyfriend of her best friend she keeps having forbidden dreams about, pretty dresses, a focused fairytale-like story, I was in vertical heaven. 

Going straight to the pantheon of ZZD best dramas, great chemistry, plot, love the short format (two hours, just enough). 

It has a page ! So good, very stylish, budget was high for a vertical, now I want to see more of XZZ and WKM vertical stuff.

Toxic love, but going both ways. Zhang Chi looks (and act) like all your fantasies given life. 

Thrilling cat and mouse game. Chen Si is magnetic. 

My fave Ma Xiao Yu vertical, he's once again a mob boss in a romantic thriller but this time, she's also into him. Enemies to lovers greatness helped by a forced cohabitation plot. 

My favorite collab so far of Wang Yi Lei and Zhai Yi Ying, two of my  favorite actors of the vertical scene. Loved the idea of the author heroïne taking charge of her own red flag ML. 

Hilarious contract marriage romance bordering on parody.

Clean cut angsty scumbag husband redemption romance with a hot pair of leads. 

Softly erotic historical with a strong production about a green tea ML who coaxes his prey into his bed. 

Sharp toxic romance with a great pair of leads, could have used a bit more time to serve a better ending. 

Fun and explosive "captured by the mob boss" version with bombshell leads.

Very hot but beware of the very "high melo" three hours long plot.

Tries to tackle too many crazy ideas at once, ends up being carried by its lead actors. Still very fun if you like the concept of the story, just don't expect a masterpiece. 

Pretty good and well-paced revenge story, forgot about it a soon as I finished it so not so memorable. I'm not a big fan of the "pretending to be dumb to avoid troubles" plot device but it was refreshing to see the ML do it for once. Production values were strong for a mini and the actors were good. I don't have enough thoughts about it for a full review. 

Two hunky boyfriends arguing about who gets the girl after 7 years of relationships and an unexpected switch, loyal one who was longing from afar gets all the kisses, cheating one gets shamed, it's 100% a female power fantasy barely covered by the paper-thin script, but it works. 

Trust the MDL synopsis : yes he will trap her in his cage of love, proceed with caution. 100% reserved for toxic/obsessive lovers enjoyers with an acquired taste for this stuff. 

The yin/yang tragedy where they take turns at saving each other. Not my favorite plot but this version was pretty good and has a solid cast. 

Gorgeous but somewhat hollow story about a rich heiress involved with a dangerous man in Macau's gambling dens. The romance didn't work for me. 

CEO chasing his runaway kept lover, she wants more, he still can't get enough of her, you know the drill, this one is shameless and very fun. 

Love Chen Si and the unhinged "Captive by the boss" plot, that goes full dark angtsy melo with no restrain, but boy the main actress can't act to save her life and it seriously dampens the experience. 

Frustrating, lazy trope fest barely saved by Wang Kai Mu and Zuo Yi, who make this watchable. It has the worst vertical writing flaws. 

Fascinating for all the wrong reasons, at least it's memorable ?
