I've always liked Yang Zi, but her portrayal of Xiaoyao made me a diehard fan. I've never seen an actress in a Chinese drama be so vulnerable and play a character with this much sincerity. Forget about looking perfect or trying to maintain some kind of idol image, Yang Zi put her everything into portraying this character. Xiaoyao was the absolute heart of Lost You Forever, and Yang Zi made sure you could feel everything that her character was feeling. 

The subtleness of her acting is brilliant. And not in the dumbass micro expression excuse everyone says to excuse poor acting from stone face male actors. Zhang Yaqin effortlessly shifted into the same person but throughout different years of her life and it was completely believable. And she did this without ever being over the top.
