1. City of Romance
Chinese Drama - 2025, 22 episodes
Barely made it through and ended up skipping along. The main leads didn't have much chemistry and the ML didn't show much expression on his face. I liked the idea of the story, but don't think it was done well. It could have been done better with different actors, I think. I was impressed with the effort the crew went through to make the Black artist and comics come to life, though.

2. Meeting You
Chinese Drama - 2020, 28 episodes
Story idea was good, but I did not like the casting - the ML and FL did not have good chemistry. The FL was too much a devil-may-care tomboy and the romance didn't feel like it was there. The concept that they had an understanding to be together may have been a good idea, but I just didn't feel connected to the characters.
This was rec'd to me because of similarity to "When I Fly Towards You"... If the actor/actress of When I Fly Towards You had played in these roles with the story of Meeting You, I think I would have liked it.

3. Story of Kunning Palace
Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes
I wanted to like this and had high expectations because of all the raving by people online. But, I think people are too focused on a few rough kiss scenes and a dominant male dynamic. I didn't love this show.. I barely made it through and started reading episode summaries instead of watching near the end. I did not like the FL. I feel like she started as a strong character and then lost her steam. She became so passive and just pulled around by events. This seemed OOC. The ML was well done and he showed great emotional conflict and progression. Overall though, I don't feel like they had a strong romantic connection. If the FL had more strength in the latter episodes and contributed more to the ML's pursuit, that would have been better. Instead, it felt like she just "gave in" and was quite passive to the ML's feelings.

4. Fangs of Fortune
Chinese Drama - 2024, 34 episodes
The humor Neo's character brings to the scenes is amusing... but I find the FL to be annoying and weak. At this point, I am only sparsely watching an episode or two here or there... no drive or investment to binge it.

5. Shine on Me
Chinese Drama - 2025, 36 episodes
Finally got around to watching this and have mixed thoughts about it. I loved the music and how it was timed with the scenes to bring emotional connection. However, there is something lacking in this show... the relationship was interesting and mature, no crazy illogical fights. But the second ML's passivity throws things off. Even as the FL finally starts to move past her feelings for him and focus on the ML, the second ML hovers. I think this show lacks some realistic reactions: why do the friends never comment (they stand silently a lot which is totally unrealistic), why does the FL never confront the second ML sooner, does the second ML really never text her again or attempt to contact her? It just seems ridiculous how long he goes despite how many ways of communication were possible. Even the ending where he sees them at the airport and it is noted he hasn't seen her in 10 years is a reflection of how long he takes to get through anything... like really?? Also, I think we needed a confrontation with the goddaughter that never happened. The story just feels incomplete in some ways.

6. My Journey to You
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
I haven't been able to finish this show... too many things I am not enjoying. Main lead relationship is dull and uninspired. Second leads are more interesting, but I don't think I can make it through the show just to watch them.
