  • The Untamed

    1. The Untamed

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes

    10

I don’t care if they call it bromance or whatever, there is no way this is not gay. If you don’t know China likes to do this thing where they make a series out of a BL novel, but don’t make it gay. Well, they definitely did not succeed in making it seem straight. Most of the people who watched this are fans of the novel, the manhua or the donghua, but I am none of those. This series is great and the love between the main characters is amazingly portrayed. It lands its first place on my list because, besides the romance, there are many interesting things to look forward to. The costumes, the atmosphere, the storyline, the narration, the characters, the acting, the sword fights, I love all of these. I watched it before it arrived on Netflix, and seriously if you haven’t seen it yet, you definitely should. I have nothing more to say, the popularity of this show speaks for itself.

  • SOTUS

    2. SOTUS

    Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes

    9.5

This is a classic Thai BL series, and the first Thai series I’ve seen. It’s absolutely amazing. Just for the rewatch value I give it 10/10 cos’ I keep coming back to it. The chemistry between the two main actors is just unbelievable, off and on screen. And another thing that I love about this, which is very rare in BL series is that it has a very authentic feel. For quite an unoriginal setting which is university, it really grabs attention. It’s funny but I didn’t think it would be good by the first two episodes, because it had this bleak feeling, but pretty soon after it become one of my favs. It's between being old-school BL's and the new wave, I guess.

  • SOTUS S

    3. SOTUS S

    Thai Drama - 2017, 13 episodes

    9.0

The continuation of Sotus that is somehow less liked, mostly for the lack of showing the intimacy that a longer relationship should have. I still do really like it, and I also like the side couples that appear in this season. I rewatched it twice, and I rarely do that with series, so still one of my favs.

  • Our Skyy

    4. Our Skyy

    Thai Drama - 2018, 5 episodes

    7.5

I only watched two out of the five episodes, and the one that I liked was the Sotus continuation one. I like to watch Arthit cry and be dramatic, so I can cry along with him and ignore real life problems.

As for the other one I've seen it was with OffGun and the continuation of their story from Puppy Honey. I didn't care much about it, but then I didn't like their couple from that show very much either.

  • 3 Will Be Free

    5. 3 Will Be Free

    Thai Drama - 2019, 10 episodes

    9.5

I put off watching it because it's not really a standard BL, but as it often goes with different things, this ended up being one of my favs, exactly for that reason. Can't believe what finally made me watch it was Tay's face, but I'm shallow okay? This is possibly the best Thai series I've seen (admittedly I only watch their gay stuff so I'm not a specialist) because it actually has a plot that goes beyond romance. Also, the hardcore BL stans may dislike it for the polyamory and it not being pure gay, but I actually really like when sexuality is shown in it's less rigid forms, having bi characters (actual bi, not the 'I like girls, but you are the only exception') or just characters that are open to experimentation. Polyamory is only fun when it's done well and this series does not disappoint. The plot is also interesting, lots of action, not a silly series, but also not super serious. My actual fav ship from this series is between a trans woman and a guy aka Mae and Tur.

  • The Novelist

    6. The Novelist

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 6 episodes

    9.5

I know the name of this series and the fact it’s adapted from a manga may scare people off. I actually did read the manga years ago, though I hardly remembered what it was about, I only remembered that I liked it. And come on, an author of pornographic novels dictating his stories to be written down by a young guy that broke his hand by accident? This is such an interesting and fun idea. It was also executed surprisingly well, with some hotness, some drama, lots of longing. Manga adaptations are rarely this well done. There is a spin-off of this called Mood Indigo, but as I don’t like the ship it portrays I haven’t seen it.

  • HIStory3: Trapped

    7. HIStory3: Trapped

    Taiwanese Special - 2019, 20 episodes

    9.0

The History series is quite well known and liked, and though I did not watch all of it, I think that Trapped is the best of the bunch. This is that rare kind of BL drama that has the perfect physical to emotional ratio, i.e. it’s both hot and romantic. The story is captivating, it’s a cop and gangsters story but very focused on the romantic part of it, which I like a lot. I think that the relationship between the two main characters was executed very well, it developed very naturally and they were a real power couple tm. The other BL pairing was also fun to watch, and I wasn’t even annoyed by the one straight couple (though they didn’t get much screen time, so don’t be worried). It’s a very quick watch, unfortunately, as I would have enjoyed more of it.

  • HIStory2: Crossing the Line

    8. HIStory2: Crossing the Line

    Taiwanese Special - 2018, 8 episodes

    9.0

I loved this part of the History series, and it's only beneath Trapped because it's too short and gives less physical intimacy (which maybe I will get more of since they are making a continuation). This was a funny, sometimes sad, high school, volleybally romantic series. If I was going by rating the best kiss this series would definitely win. Seriously, there is no one thirstier than Xia Yu Hao. This is a pretty light-hearted, feel-good series, and the acting is good, so I highly recommend it.

  • HIStory2: Right or Wrong

    9. HIStory2: Right or Wrong

    Taiwanese Special - 2018, 8 episodes

    9.0

This has a completely different feel from the previous one, it’s more serious, though it does not lack comedic moments. A more complicated relationship between a divorced university professor, who has a small daughter, and a university student who acts as a nanny and housewife for said professor. From the description alone I wasn’t interested, but the love portrayed by the two actors was very sweet and intense. It had quite a mature feel and also was at times bittersweet. Definitely worth watching.

  • HIStory: Obsessed

    10. HIStory: Obsessed

    Taiwanese Special - 2017, 4 episodes

    8.5

This was kind of weird, but the plot was interesting and the ending got me. Also really hot scene (the reason I watched) It's really short, which is an advantage.

  • Until We Meet Again

    11. Until We Meet Again

    Thai Drama - 2019, 17 episodes

    9.0

This series is really good if we're talking about plot, even though it's once again a university setting, but the supernatural element adds a nice twist, and it has a bit less of that annoying jokes. It's pretty sentimental, and yes, In and Korn break my heart. I liked the main couple, though I didn't love them exactly, and I didn't really like a lot of the stuff that happens at the end. I don't know why, but my fav couple, as for a lot of people, was Win and Team, even though they don't really have that much screen time. Still, an enjoyable watch and an engaging, well-produced story.

  • Between Us

    12. Between Us

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

Spin-off from Until We Meet Again about my fav couple, can't wait!

  • TharnType

    13. TharnType

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    8.5

Another Thai series I enjoyed, and I was surprised about it. It is affiliated with Love By Chance series, that is way lower on my list, so I didn’t really plan to watch it, but after seeing tons of fanvids I couldn’t stop myself. Quite an interesting and original story, even though it is once again set in university life. Touches upon some heavy stuff like homophobia, rape, manipulation and whatnot, but most of the time it’s about the love story, which is bright and nice to watch (not to mention real hot). I really loved Tharn’s character. The series focuses a lot on the relationship and the psychology of the pair. The attraction between the two mains is palpable. What more can I say, I’m real weak against those enemies to lovers tropes, if they are done well.

  • TharnType Special: Our Final Love

    14. TharnType Special: Our Final Love

    Thai Special - 2020, 1 episode

    7.5
  • TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love

    15. TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love

    Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

  • Ossan's Love

    16. Ossan's Love

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 7 episodes

    8.5

This is a ridiculous comedy, but I really enjoyed it, even with it over-acted style. The main pair is awesome together, and though I do find the acting of the main character annoying at times, I have nothing to say against Maki, he is an angel and he deserves everything. The old boss falling in love with the main character theme is really a background for me, I’m there for Haruta/Maki content and I was not disappointed, though I am hoping for a bit more, since they made a movie continuation, for which I, of course, have to wait, being on the wrong continent. There are also other versions of this drama, but since they lack the actor that plays Maki I didn’t try to watch them, maybe I will sometime. But this is good for laughs and relaxation, so that the dreary autumn and winter days pass quicker.

  • Ossan’s Love: LOVE or DEAD

    17. Ossan’s Love: LOVE or DEAD

    Japanese Movie - 2019

    8.0

Continuation of Ossan's Love, I liked it.

  • He's Coming to Me

    18. He's Coming to Me

    Thai Drama - 2019, 8 episodes

    8.5

This series didn’t get enough hype. I only watched it because Singto from Sotus starred in it, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I was afraid it was going to be very tragic, as it’s a love story between a ghost and a human, but, although it had its sad moments, it was also funny, interesting and sweet. It lacks the things that are usually annoying in Thai dramas, like unnecessary drama, guys being unable to admit they are gay and extremely stupid jokes. The feel of it is really refreshing, and it had one of the best coming out scenes I’ve ever seen. The chemistry between the pair is so lovely. Definitely worth filling a short while of your time with.

  • My Engineer

    19. My Engineer

    Thai Drama - 2020, 14 episodes

    8.5

I was pretty surprised that I liked this series, because it's not very original, and it is full of overused tropes (though they also do play with those tropes in original ways). I agree with a lot of people that loved RamKing, they were the reason I started watching and they are my fav couple (Talay is a real good actor, not to mention he's pretty), though by the end TharaFrong really got me, and I find myself thinking the most about this ship. Those two couples are the reason I can't wait for season 2. As for the other two, I skipped almost all of the beginning scenes for Boss and Mek, and only ever seen their later scenes and some fmv, they're cute, but they bored me. The 'main' couple - BohnDuen, I was always between liking and disliking them, and for a moment, at the end, I thought they would share the fate of another couple from another show (cough - high five- cough), but their last episode was cute enough. Also, like lots of people, I watched it simultaneously with two other Thai shows airing at that time: "Why R U" and "2gether", and I consider "My Engineer" one the best of the three, production and story-wise, though the status of my fav couple still belongs to SaifahZon from "Why R U".

  • My Engineer Season 2

    20. My Engineer Season 2

    Thai Drama - 0000, 14 episodes

    TharaFrong and RamKing, can't wait!

  • Where Your Eyes Linger

    21. Where Your Eyes Linger

    Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes

    8.5

Really interesting, well-acted, great chemistry, and one of my favs this year. Those short Korean series are usually very good, and this one is probably the best one I've watched (out of the BL ones). The plot is a bit manga-like, but in a good sense. This is a bodyguard/young master standard plot but I have nothing against well-executed standard tropes. As it goes with almost all the Korean BL's I've seen, this is rather romantic, more than hot, but they still manage to be erotic in more subtle ways (I mean that wrestling scene was something), and I do like romance. Its shortness is also an asset (though I could have watched more of those two guys) because they focus on the interesting stuff, they don't have unnecessary background characters and other things that annoy me in those longer (usually Thai) dramas.

  • Method

    22. Method

    Korean Movie - 2017

    8.5

Okay, this is not a BL series, this is an actual movie that has a complicated gay relationship, and while that relationship is in the center, this is no love story. This is mostly a psychological look on method acting, and the plot is pretty good, but what's really great about it is the acting. It's really nice to watch when you want to take a break from the candied world of BLs, but don't want to watch anything too realistic or gritty either. The ending left me a bit unsatisfied, but I do recommend this.

  • Because of You

    23. Because of You

    Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes

    8.5

This is quick and sweet. I put off watching it because the synopsis didn't seem interesting to me, but ended up really liking it, though now I barely remember what happens in it, so I can't say it left that much of an impression. All the couples were pretty good, but the one I do remember with most clarity was Yuan Jun Cheng and Lin Xun, and I really enjoyed their bilingual conversations.

  • Guardian

    24. Guardian

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes

    8.0

This is another one of those series adapted from a BL novel to not be gay, but definitely failing. There were even some threats of taking it down, from what I heard, so the gay is visible there, believe me. A fantasy series about three races, magical artifacts, soulmates, and magical adventures. The relationship of the main characters is just pure love, not going to lie to you. There is no other way I can explain the amount of longing and selflessness that I found there. I was never supposed to cry because of a series that I started after watching crack videos on yt, but I was so wrong. There are some elements that are a bit weak, some background actors are not that good, some adventures aren’t really that interesting, but the performance of the two main actors and the interactions between them are pure gold. I cannot forget them.

  • Why R U?

    25. Why R U?

    Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes

    8.0

Okay, listen, I have a real problem with rating this series because I do not think it deserves an 8, but whenever someone speaks badly of it I feel offended because I tend to forget I skipped most of it. Production-wise, plot-wise, this series was both messy and boring at times, but, BUT, what I watched was mostly SaifahZon cut, and they are, for this moment, my favourite relationship from BL ever, and I thank whoever made Tommy and Jimmy kiss like that.

But as for the rest, this show is meant to be kind of a satire of BLs and tropes and the like, but the editing and a lot of unnecessary boring scenes made most of it unwatchable for me. Many people also watched for TutorFighter, and while I think both of the actors are good and have nice chemistry, their story did not interest me at all, and I only watched some of their hot scenes (there be lots of those, though still less than TharnType). There were some other couples that I skipped, though when I tried to rewatch this, I did low-key like Japan and Tanthai.

I really recommend watching the SaifahZon cut, also TutorFighter (they just might be your thing). I'm still waiting for that special SaifahZon episode.

  • My Baby Bright: Best Friends Forever

    26. My Baby Bright: Best Friends Forever

    Thai Special - 2018, 1 episode

    8.0

Can't believe I'm rating a commercial and can't believe I cried on said commercial. It has KristSingto so ...

  • Destiny Calls

    27. Destiny Calls

    Thai Special - 2019, 1 episode

    8.0

Continuation of My Baby Bright commercial. Cute and touching.

  • Long Time No See

    28. Long Time No See

    Korean Drama - 2017, 5 episodes

    7.5

An interesting story of love in a world of assassins and gangs. Cute and hot, and well-acted. Nice, quick watch. The only thing that bothered me was that the relationship developed way too fast into ‘I’d die for you’ level.

  • Double Mints

    29. Double Mints

    Japanese Movie - 2017

    7.5

I don't remember the manga, but I know I've read it years ago. Apparently, the manga is much better, but it was pretty good. Not cute in any way, and kind of sick, but I like those obsessive Hannigram-esque relationships. And I thought the acting was good, for something adapted from a japanese manga.

  • Seven Days: Monday - Thursday

    30. Seven Days: Monday - Thursday

    Japanese Movie - 2015

    7.5

This is not a series, but two movies, telling a story of a guy that dates any girl who asks for a week and a guy who asks him to date him. It’s another story adapted from a manga (that I read way before and didn’t remember) and it’s pretty good. It’s a sweet high-school romance. The actors played their roles well. It’s a nice story that’s a quick watch.

  • Seven Days: Friday - Sunday

    31. Seven Days: Friday - Sunday

    Japanese Movie - 2015

    7.5
  • Together with Me

    32. Together with Me

    Thai Drama - 2017, 13 episodes

    7.5

For me, this story is more hot than romantic. Like, the bed scenes were real good, and the ship was good, but there were annoying things in it too, like how dumb did Knock had to be to get so manipulated by his girlfriend. I really enjoyed the side characters, especially Yihwa, she was badass. I’m happy I saw this first, because if I saw the side story Bad Romance first, I would have given up, as I did, so I did not see the continuation and don’t plan to. But this one’s pretty good, probably not gonna ever re-watch it tho.

  • Theory of Love

    33. Theory of Love

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    7.0

This is a very interesting series, that takes apart romantic comedies and has a couple with great chemistry. There are annoying things in it, I don’t particularly enjoy stories where one character is secretly in love with their best friend, who is judged as an asshole for not noticing. But I also think it was executed in an interesting way, and I found Third’s dramatic sadness to be quite funny most of the time. I rooted for the couple, even though they both were pretty unfair to each other at times, but they got better with time. I felt good after watching it, so I recommend.

  • YYY

    34. YYY

    Thai Drama - 2020, 6 episodes

    7.0

This was crackhead at its finest. Some people are gonna love this, some will hate it. I'm personally not a big fan of this type of humor so I skipped lots of it, focusing on the gay love story. NottPun are a cute couple, Talay once again showing he can act. There are two things I applaud this series for: it's really very original, breaking and laughing at a lot of BL tropes, also having some really witty humor in between the simple comedy, and secondly, the characters are really well fleshed-out, breaking out of their stereotypical comedic roles. For example, they can make a stereotypical Trans crazy fangirl still be human, and have some other character traits, a history, and emotions besides salivating over two hot guys together (which they still very much do, they laugh at it and not bash it is what I'm saying.) I recommend checking it out, a lot of people loved it.

  • YYY Special

    35. YYY Special

    Thai Special - 2020, 3 episodes

  • My Pistachio

    36. My Pistachio

    7.5

This is real short, and has a really cute ending.

  • A Crimson Mark

    37. A Crimson Mark

    Korean Movie - 2004

    7.0

From what I understand it's the first Korean gay movie or smth. I don't remember it very well, I know it's pretty short and had a very nice kiss scene.

  • Summerdaze

    38. Summerdaze

    Singaporean Special - 2018, 1 episode

    7.5

Okay, I don't remember it, but it's kind of like a music video? Anyway, I think it was good, though obviously not very memorable for me.

  • As if You Whisper

    39. As if You Whisper

    Korean Movie - 2019

    7.0

I really liked it, though it has a bleak feeling. I though the relationship was cute.

  • The Lover

    40. The Lover

    Korean Drama - 2015, 12 episodes

    6.5

I actually watched all of The Lover once, but the only thing I really enjoyed was the gay part, so I only re-watched the gay cut recently (it’s on yt). That’s a very short watch and there isn’t really that much romance as it’s a comedy, but I have a great sentiment for Joon Jae and Takuya. They just fit together. Plus, it’s a lovely story of the growing love between people from two different countries living as roommates. Yes, it’s very silly, but also very relaxing.

  • Beloved Enemy

    41. Beloved Enemy

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 15 episodes

    6.5

This is another series done from a BL novel, but compared to The Untamed or Guardian, this one is a bit more successful in being less gay, but I still enjoyed it. The relationship between the main characters is fascinating, and the business world shown is interesting. It didn’t bore me, and the only thing that really annoyed me was the added heterosexual part, though it wasn’t a very clear relationship.

  • The Boy Next Door

    42. The Boy Next Door

    Korean Drama - 2017, 15 episodes

    6.5

Before you jump at me for giving you a series that is not BL, it technically can be counted as one, because there is an actual gay couple in it that is pretty important for the plot. But the main relationship between two neighbors Park Kyu Tae and Sung Gi Jae is only comedic. I didn’t care tho, it was an enjoyable and uplifting watch, and I also think that people like me will see it as gay anyway (I’ve been a shipper for years okay, I see what I see).

  • Dark Blue Kiss

    43. Dark Blue Kiss

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    6.5

Okay, this series is well produced and I like PeteKao (fine, what I mean is I like Tay Tawan and his handsome face) but I had to put it on hold, because I don't like when the main plot is based on the jealousy trope. I watched the whole SunMork cut tho, and I love them. I plan to return to finish this someday.

  • HIStory: Stay Away from Me

    44. HIStory: Stay Away from Me

    Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 4 episodes

    6.0

This is the part of the History series that was the least interesting for me (I didn't watch that one where the girl possesses a guy's body and I don't plan to). It was fine, nothing special.

  • HIStory3: Make Our Days Count

    45. HIStory3: Make Our Days Count

    Taiwanese Special - 2019, 20 episodes

    5.5

It wouldn’t be so low, but I HATED the ending. Like, I still get mad when I think about it. For most of the time it’s a nice high-school romance about two completely different guys, one of them laid-back, the other the studious kind. The acting and humor were too much for me at times, and I didn’t like the side-paring that much. I recommend not watching the last episode, ever.

  • Addicted

    46. Addicted

    Chinese Drama - 2016, 15 episodes

    5.5

This is the gayest of the Chinese series and discontinued for that reason, also a classic for BL watchers. I didn’t really enjoy it that much, the relationship felt too forced and one-sided for me. There were things I liked, like the way they showed how the different living of poor and rich people and how Gu Hai copied Bai Luo Yin’s writing because he liked it so much. If you want to watch it don’t forget to see the deleted scenes, these be the important ones.

  • Suddenly Last Summer

    47. Suddenly Last Summer

    Korean Movie - 2012

    5.5

Weird. Nice kiss. I like forbidden relationships, especially older/younger guy, and this one is with a teacher, but it was kind of boring and stalkerish (by the younger guy).

  • Kiss Me Again

    48. Kiss Me Again

    Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes

    6.0

Watched the gay cut. What can I say, KaoPete are cute.

  • Farewell My Concubine

    49. Farewell My Concubine

    Chinese Movie - 1993

    5.5

This is definitely not BL, but an actual movie that's about LGBTQ+ topics, among many others. This is a realistic and serious movie that teaches a lot about China's history. It's well-known and critically acclaimed, and it bored me terribly. But you know, it's very well-acted and produced, and people love it, so I think it's worth checking out.

  • Love by Chance

    50. Love by Chance

    Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes

    5.0

I know how popular this series is, but I got bored of it about halfway and only watched the TinCan cut later. And the reason for that is simple: I really dislike the two main characters. I just don’t feel them. I like TinCan tho, so I’m kinda excited for the second season that is gonna be about those two.

  • Love by Chance Season 2: A Chance to Love

    51. Love by Chance Season 2: A Chance to Love

  • Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey

    52. Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey

    Thai Drama - 2016, 6 episodes

    5.0

Again, I only watched the gay cut. I'm not actually that into PickRome, but I like OffGun playing together, so you know, I felt obligated to watch that and the second part as well.

  • Advance Bravely

    53. Advance Bravely

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 30 episodes

    4.5

Adapted from a BL novel, made to look less gay, you know the drill. I think this series is gayer than Beloved Enemy, but I enjoyed it way less. It just … lacks any sort of logic. There is no logical explanation for how the plot goes, or how the relationship progresses. Everything that happens is hardly probable. I thought the acting was good, and I enjoyed the side couples (who weren’t given that much screen time).

  • 2gether

    54. 2gether

    Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes

    3.5

This rating may seem harsh but never before did any show make me unship a ship I liked. I am one of those people that had high hopes for this show in the beginning and got bamboozled so hard halfway, and is still bitter about it. I only managed to watch it to the end because I lowkey shipped ManType (and I still do like them). The beginning of Tine and Sarawat's relationship was interesting, and I still don't understand how they went from having chemistry to being the most 'no homo' vibes gay relationship ever. And let's not forget about all the dumb repetitive jealously tropes, the bad editing, and the unsatisfying ending. This series will go down in history as the 'high five' meme.

  • Manner of Death
