For those that crave immersive historical romance
Historical dramas I adore typically avoid certain elements. I steer clear of Wuxia/Xianxia settings and excessive comedy, preferring immersion in the historical ambiance. Overly cute or exaggeratedly clever characters disrupt my immersion. Time travel dramas should reflect the struggle of adapting to the past realistically. Perfect hair, makeup, and anachronistic clothing detract from authenticity.
Excessive focus on politics or food bores me. While I enjoy mystery elements, they should be plausible in the historical context. I prefer romance with obstacles over perfect love stories. Unrealistically strong female leads amuse me; cunning and strategic characters engage me more.
Themes I appreciate include romance, drama, and love triangles with believable dynamics. Attempted historical accuracy adds depth, while flawed yet intelligent female leads resonate with me. Tragic love stories, where characters face unfulfilled desires or duty, offer compelling narratives. I'm drawn to male leads who pursue the female lead despite initial obstacles.
