♡ absolute favs of mine ♡
Some of my all-time favorite movies and dramas are listed here. By favorite, I don't mean that it is perfect in any way whatsoever, but that I like it regardless of its inconsistencies and weaknesses.

1. 18 Again
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
i loved the american film, and i watched this drama because of my love for that film. it was the first kdrama that i finished to completion, didn't make me fall in love with the whole concept of kdrama in general but it was still pretty good, and it still is one of the best i watched ngl.

2. Algernon ni Hanataba wo
Japanese Drama - 2015, 10 episodes
went in fking blind with this one and this shit surprised me so fking much like the acting, the characters, the story, just about everything minus the production, this shit so peak ngl. the way it showed like totally black and white characters turn to gray and yamapi's portrayal of the protagonist, i fw both of those things heavily plus the rose playing in background, chef's kiss.
-
3. Alice in Borderland
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
read like the first 4 volumes of the manga beforehand, considering the amount of good la adaptations from animanga we get, sometimes we gotta do with ones that atleast do the bare minimum. still this adaptation was pretty good if i'm being honest.
-
4. Alice in Borderland Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
i was kinda entering like unchartered territory with s2 since i had only read like 4 volumes and that only covered like first half of season 1, so i knew nothing of what's gonna happen and it was pretty good entertainment ngl, the scale got bigger and whatnot but i also kinda missed the somewhat grounded nature of s1. honestly, still pretty good since that was supposed to happen anyways.
-
5. Beyond Evil
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
i fell in love with the whole scenario with serial killers in kdramas because of mouse and i think this is the drama i watched after finishing mouse. i was expecting it to be like mouse but this shit was honestly good in its own way, the suspense and thrill after each episode was indescribable ngl. i do admit that the final reveal of villains was kinda expected but yeah it was still pretty good.
-
6. Black Out
Korean Drama - 2024, 14 episodes
i watched this weekly when it was airing and that was my biggest mistake, like for how good it was, the wait for the next friday killed me internally. hella good storyline with somewhat minimalistic but excellent bromance among the leads too. this was such a good suspense thriller, no matter what i say, it would still be an understatement imo.
-
7. Boyhood
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
yeah, im si wan killed it. i mean every drama/film of his that i watched is a straight up banger and this is no exception to that universal rule imo. the genre change toward the second half was so fking smooth, some dramas like bad and crazy have a hard time nailing that part, but boyhood actually killed it ngl. this was recommended in similarity to whc 1 and i got to know the why part later on.
-
8. Character
Japanese Movie - 2021
this film is not that good if i'm being honest. the reason for why i like it a lot is because of my love for manga and serial killers in fiction, this got both of them. the manga that the protagonist draws is very detailed, so if you're like me who likes to look at manga panels, then you might like it. also, i think this is one of the first live action jfilms i watched, so that might have been the case too for my somewhat unconventional love for this film.
-
9. Death's Game
Korean Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
i fking loved the manhwa of this and i'm so happy that i actually read it way before even the announcement of this adaptation. the moment i heard that this was getting a live action adaptation directed by the guy who made 18 again and seo in guk was also starring as the protagonist, you can't even guess my goddamn happiness at that moment, like i just fking knew i was gonna witness peak again.
-
10. Death's Game Part 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 4 episodes
i honestly didn't like one change that the director made for this adaptation in part 2, and that was the whole full circle he did, somehow making the protagonist responsible for everything. i tried to describe that point as vague as i could just so that i wouldn't spoil anyone. but because the director made a lot of good changes for this adaptation too while still keeping the core message intact, i think i can make do w that full circle change.

11. Doom at Your Service
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
this was another one of those earlier dramas i watched, maybe if i had watched it later, i might not have liked it that much and it might've been hard for me to finish it because of how mundane and slow it was at times. but honestly, at the time i watched it i really liked that aspect of it and it was kind of poetic for me in a sense too. so, ig it's an example of a right drama at right time.
-
12. Drawing Closer
Japanese Movie - 2024
another one of miki takahiro's work and probably his most popular one too imo. watched this alongside a friend, she cried like buckets on it honestly and i like hardly conjured up a single tear or smth but i could still feel the overall sad ambience of the film. really good film, honestly would've been hella better had ig reels not spoiled me lol
-
13. Even if This Love Disappears from the World Tonight
Japanese Movie - 2022
ok! so this is at the time of writing, this is like my fav jfilm and probably one of fav films even overall. the guy who directed this, his name is miki takahiro and i really wanna ask that guy like what the hell do you eat bro? how the hell can every single film of yours that i've seen be a goddamn masterpiece. for those who don't know him, he's the guy who directed drawing closer and that's imo his most popular work. maybe call it luck ig but i actually knew him before that film.
-
14. Gannibal
Japanese Drama - 2022, 7 episodes
at the time i got interested in watching this, there was only 1 volume of the manga that this drama is based on available in english, so i read that before diving into this drama which if i'm being honest hardly covered like 1 or maybe 2 episodes, i don't exactly remember. but this drama has got a killer storyline plus the high budget behind it and that actually shows in the drama. i've not seen season 2 but judging it only based on this, honestly a really good drama, might've even outdone itself.
-
15. Meet Me after School
Japanese Drama - 2018, 11 episodes
to some, it might contain a taboo topic but from my research about japanese people and culture, it doesn't seem to be the same for them especially the way it has been portrayed in this drama. i honestly have a high tolerance for a lot of stuff, so i've seen a lot of messed up or just straight up fked up shit in media and honestly this doesn't even come close to any of them. this one is hella lot of slow imo but this is honestly a killer drama if you somehow make it through to the end. plus it also got an excellent ost that i still listen to occasionally.
-
16. Mouse
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
my love for serial killer kdramas or maybe even dramas in general probably started with this one. i honestly saw lee seung gi in vagabond before and fell in love with his character and the way he portrayed him. i've only seen two dramas of him (vagabond and mouse) and both of those dramas are in this list and he honestly killed it in both of them. never have i ever been this excited to see an actor's other works. if you wanna watch this drama, just avoid every single spoiler you can cause that'll honestly tenfold your experience.
-
17. Moving
Korean Drama - 2023, 20 episodes
i discovered anime at a time when i had gotten tired of dc and marvel films, the superhero genre in general. i watched my hero academia and quite liked the first season, although it went kind of downhill later down the line and i dropped it at the fifth season. the point is i watched moving way after that and regardless of its major plot line being about superheroes, or you could call it people with superpowers, the point of the matter is that regardless of me wanting nothing to do with this genre, i still enjoyed this drama a lot.

18. My Perfect Stranger
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
-
19. My Strange Hero
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
-
20. My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday
Japanese Movie - 2016
yeah, i love time loops, and melodrama (+ if the film is directed by miki takahiro). the concept of this film was really amazing, and the execution was top-notch. most of his films seem to be adaptations of novels, so i do wanna check out the originals too. also, this made me remember those anime films i watched, like that slice of life ambience with aspect of time loops, the girl who leapt through time by mamoru hosoda.
