dramas I think about at least once every year

Each of these titles live in my mind RENT FREE and I visit them at least once every year since I've seen them. But note that there are a couple dramas I haven't completed because they either 1) turned pee pee poo poo at one point 2) I dropped because I was going through some kind of existential crisis/mental breakdown lol

  • Bad Buddy

    1. Bad Buddy

    Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    9.5

Ep 5, Pt 4. Need I say more?

Well, yes. This will probably always be the most iconic Thai BL in my mind. I was OBSESSED when it was airing, and I still am. When this came out, I thought the world healed and I'd forget all my real life problems every Friday.

  • Be Melodramatic

    2. Be Melodramatic

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

    9.5

Another 'lovely relatable women with amazing friendship' drama that I absolutely adore. This is also one of the funniest k-dramas I've ever seen. I still want Jeon Yeo Bin and Son Seok Koo to be leads in something romantic. I can't believe he was only supposed to be a cameo appearance!

  • Call It Love

    3. Call It Love

    Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes

This is also ANGST buttoned to the TOP. So deliciously angsty in all its delicious slowburn glory... And my dumbass dropped it at ep 8 for reasons I do not remember. Maybe I was going through some shit lol. Either way, I'll pick this one back up at some point of my life. I WILL!

  • Delicious Romance

    4. Delicious Romance

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 20 episodes

    9.0

I think this is the best Chinese romcom I've watched. 'Lovely relatable women with amazing friendship' is a genre that I adore, and for a modern c-drama, this one's very unique and refreshing considering how most modern c-romcoms tend to be. I'll never get tired of recommending this underrated gem! (NEVER watch the fucking movie though)

  • Hana-Kimi

    5. Hana-Kimi

    Japanese Drama - 2007, 12 episodes

    9.5

'Ikemen Paradise' is a term I use very often for no absolute reason, and I don't think I'll ever stop. Netflix should bring this because I can't believe I watched this in 360p trash quality and still loved it.

  • Hidden Love

    6. Hidden Love

    Chinese Drama - 2023, 25 episodes

    9.0

This is fluffy, corny, sort of immature, unrealistic-- but who THE FUCK cares? That's all I really need in my life from time to time. Where the hell is my brother's hot and caring best friend? (I don't have a brother)

  • Into the Ring

    7. Into the Ring

    Korean Drama - 2020, 32 episodes

Any time someone tells me to name a wacky fictional woman I love and appreciate, I think of Nana in Into the Ring because she was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous in this. She was gorgeous while being quirky as fuck! And also I think about the 5-minute-long kissing scene in this drama because damn that was long (necessarily). I did, however, drop it because politics aren't my cup of tea and I think it was longer than it should've been.

  • Love All Play

    8. Love All Play

    Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes

Okay so this drama? THIS drama? I wanted to sell my soul to it during the first six episodes. Two very likable characters falling in love and having beautiful chemistry is one of my favorite things ever-- but the way the writers fumbled them should be researched because the introduction of a single supporting character during the 2nd half of the drama ruined EVERYTHING. Maybe I'm overreacting. I DONT CARE!!! This could've been so much.

But yes, I think about the wasted potential of this at least once every year.

  • Love Between Fairy and Devil

    9. Love Between Fairy and Devil

    Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes

    9.0

Dongfang Qincang will FOREVER be one of my most favorite MLs of all time. He's a baddie LEFT and RIGHT! But besides that, I just love this drama. I think it's the most consistent and well-written xianxia c-drama I've ever watched, and I just adored how the leads were so damn self-sacrificial for each other.

  • Meet Me after School

    10. Meet Me after School

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 11 episodes

    10

I mean, come on... COME ON NOW.

This drama is the only thing I've ever rated a 10 because I'm forever obsessed with it. It's deliciously angsty, forbidden, controversial, and beautiful. Everything's perfect-- the writing, acting, cinematography, and soundtrack... Everything.

  • My Dearest

    11. My Dearest

    Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    9.5

ANGST buttoned to the TOP! I'm only thinking about Part One though.

  • My Only 12%

    12. My Only 12%

    Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes

    8.5

I sometimes just randomly find myself saying "CAKEEEEE" and "I love your eyes, your nose..." like an insane person.

This drama is, by no means, perfect. Nothing really is, but there were admittedly several flaws in this one (esp in the last three episodes that didn't need to exist). However, that doesn't hinder the fact that I am inexplicably fond of this drama. Sure, it's nothing special on the surface, but it had HEART. It had PASSION.

  • Semantic Error

    13. Semantic Error

    Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    9.0

This is the only drama I've ever really rewatched from the beginning to end, and I think I've seen the first episode a gazillion times now. Here I thought K-BLs would be busting out bangers after bangers upon the release and popularity of this drama... Oh well.

  • Shanai Marriage Honey

    14. Shanai Marriage Honey

    Japanese Drama - 2020, 7 episodes

    9.0

This is the silliest, fluffiest, cheesiest and the most awesome little romcom I've seen. Amazing chemistry between the leads, one of the healthiest relationships on media, and it's one of those dramas that KNOW it's a silly little romcom and RUNS with it very well. I just really appreciate and a love a self-aware romcom that's short and sweet. Rewatch value is CRAZY on this.

  • The Rise of Phoenixes

    15. The Rise of Phoenixes

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes

One day, I will watch this to the end....

One of these days, I will....

  • Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    16. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    9.5

The first Korean drama I've ever fully watched. So for that reason, WFKBJ will always have a special place in my heart. But besides that, I still think this is the best college romance I've ever watched. It's so adorable, heartwarming and winters will always remind me of Weightlifting Fairy.
