𝓜y all-time 𝓕avorite dramas ★ (Top 5)

My Period Chinese, Taiwanese & Hong Kongese dramas PTW List. This list will include all sorts of period dramas; Historical, Wuxia, Xianxia, Xuanhuan. Within historicals, it will also include Fantasy, & Minguo (Chinese Republican Era) dramas as well. Dramas that have a mix of contemporary and period theme will be included only if most of the story takes place in the period setting. Douban ratings are mentioned in each show's description. I believe in douban more than MDL (MDL is just infested by Kdrama lovers and idol drama fans that ignore all the good and well made cdramas.) I consider 6.5 and above rating to be good, but at times shows rated below that also surprise me. I keep such shows if they are better rated here plus if the premise is intriguing.

BL draws my intention because it tends to show a romantic intimacy lacking in many main stream shows. Like in any genre, finding a drama or romantic comedy with an interesting storyline, that is well told and thoughtfully cast can be a bit, ‘hit and miss’. Being from Australia, I wasn’t exposed to all the promotional hoopla that surrounds the BL world in Asian countries. And having English as my only language means my ability to enjoy these shows is affected by the quality of the subtitles. I needed to search and read through numerous posts and websites to find the stories of interest to me and the avenues available to me, to watch them. So I’ve developed this list in hope it might guide others to find what they prefer.Please note only stories I have watched will be on this list. I will also endeavour to write comments about my reasons for my rating; however I won’t rewrite the synosis.
