Wong began his career in 1992 with ATV as a host, and later worked as a radio host for a Hong Kong Radio Station. In 1996, Wong joined TVB, and has remained there ever since. His work at TVB revolves around drama serials, including the successful and high rating dramas, Food of Love and Burning Flame.
During his career at TVB, Wong has acted primarily in law enforcement roles, which gave rise to rumors that his stage name is based on the term "皇氣", a slang term for law enforcement in Hong Kong.
