I really love classic Chinese dramas. Modern dramas are good too, but old hits have a special charm because of the nostalgia, the youthful feeling, the happiness, and the classy atmosphere they create. Even when I watch a drama for the first time, it feels familiar because I’ve already seen some edits and clips, so I know a few parts of the story. I also watched the Thai version and liked it, but the original Chinese version has its own magic and definitely deserves to be watched.
In this drama, the second male lead, Bo Song, completely stole my heart. He is such a green flag — caring, attentive, and always there for the female lead. The way he notices small details and quietly supports her is so sweet. Sometimes I feel like he deserves his own love story with someone who can love him back, because my heart hurts watching him always put the female lead first.
Classic Chinese dramas have this kind of male lead: he acts cold and hides his feelings, but deep inside he cares a lot. He notices everything, knows the female lead likes him, and even though he secretly loves her, he doesn’t express it clearly at first. Meanwhile, she keeps staying by his side because of her feelings for him. Then when he finally admits his feelings and says he wants to stay with her and go to the same university after episode 16.
I love the main couple, but I also can’t help feeling emotional for Bo Song. He deserves happiness too. I hope he finds someone who chooses him the way he always chooses others. 💙
I honestly don’t understand why fans are getting so involved in casting decisions. I know Zhang Ling He has had some issues with fandom and controversies, but his fans are also very passionate and supportive. At the same time, I really like this cast.
Lu Yu Xiao is a talented actress, and I’ve enjoyed watching her dramas over the past year. She has shown a lot of growth and has delivered some great performances. I was actually excited about the possibility of seeing her work with Zhang Ling He again because their chemistry was one of the reasons many people enjoyed their previous drama.
I understand that fans support actors and actresses, and they can make a drama more popular. But at the end of the day, casting should be decided by the production team based on the story, characters, and overall quality of the drama.
A drama should not lose a good cast because of fan conflicts. If the two leads are suitable for the roles and can create a great show, then they deserve the opportunity. I hope people can focus more on the drama itself instead of only the fandom wars.
