The dessert arc make sense since they have to go to the western regions. It just connects the story. This arc is mainly for the ml. Let's also not forget that we have two leads here, not only one. It's an epic arc but full of angst. It's just her opinion, you should check it yourself. 🥰

Are you seriously relying on Douban? That app full of trolls? Even Yangzi's drama are hits but not all of it were not rated that high despite of them being good. Also, why do you talk as if esther yu's dramas are rated high there as well? She has 8.1 but only one drama.

If you really want to argue with Douban, then Zhao Lusi's dramas ratings there we're actually quite high, some of them, not all. Love like the galaxy for example was rated 7.6 and the low budget drama, The Romance of Tiger and Rose was 7.3. These were high enough. Hidden love at 6.9, even higher than esther's costume drama Journey to you at 6.2. Sword and Fairy rated at 5.0 and A Romance of the Little Forest at 6.2. So, who are we kidding here? We cannot rely on douban, I don't even agree that esther yu's dramas should be this low. I actually liked Journey to you and it did not deserve that rating. 🙄
