Prince Yi did try to win over the Lu family over the years but the family avoided him like the plague.

LAR did tell her dilemma to Mu Chuan that she could only choose Prince Qing, not Prince Yi, for marriage, in Episode 6. MC replied that she had forgotten he was also a Prince who could help her with her plan.
