I'm a le$bean and I also find Sound reaaaaaaally pretty hahaha
I'd say that Star In My Mind is just a very average BL series lol. It isn't really anything too special and it does suffer from lazy writing and unnecessary drama towards the end. I think it's only really worth watching if you like JoongDunk's chemistry or just have a lot of free time to waste. Like if you're sick and stuck in bed lmao? I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to be that high on your to watch list but it's definitely not the worst out there...
Tbh I didn't like this episode as much as I had wanted to. Keep in mind that I love this series and these are…
Also did anyone else notice that in a few scenes before the road trip, the boys' lips were oddly blue? Most noticeably Tiw and Sound's... like are they okay??
Tbh I didn't like this episode as much as I had wanted to. Keep in mind that I love this series and these are just my rants for ep9 : The flow this episode was really weird; lots of cute moments but it felt very different from all of the previous ones. Most notably, they're not at school but the story also didn't feel that consecutive or cohesive like it normally does. It didn't have that normal smooth flow that we've come to know and love with MSP. It kind of just felt like a handful of semi-random moments. It wasn't choppy but the flow just wasn't really there. There were also a few elements in this episode that I didn't love. Yak was annoying, insane and illogical and while I do see the part of him that's overcompensating and projecting his past and goals onto the current Chinzhillas, it felt like he was more so there to push the plot and characters around. His character also isn't very consistent like he's so aggressively for the no dating rule but then is supportive of Sound when he writes a love song and tells him that it's based off of his current experiences... He's like their (or rather the plot's) fairy godmother with more than a few loose screws... I did really enjoy how poor Gun just wanted a sweet moment with his boo and just kept getting interrupted; like Yok asking for sunscreen. I swear he was trying to get their band to go to the temple without him (and ofc Tinn). Gun wasn't really his normal self this episode which is something that I also really missed. The guy's feeling the toll of all of the pressures and responsibilities that come along with being the captain. Yak also doesn't help Gun's inherent instinct to feel overly responsible for every little variable. It was very odd to see him want to control the aspects of SoundWin's possible romance; I didn't agree with it and thought it felt pretty juvenile. I wanted Tinn to speak up a bit more about how hypocritical Gun was being. Didn't love that part but they're still so young and Gun did come to a turning point where he came to that realization himself anyways, I just wished they had organized the screentime better. Same with the dancing assignment. I liked what they were trying to do and some of the aspects but I didn't necessarily like how they were executed. I feel like they spent way too much time on the things that didn't really matter. This whole episode was so SoundWin heavy! I'm glad that they're getting the screentime that they deserve but again their story felt a bit choppy.. like it could've gone a bit smoother. It feels like we were missing a scene or two of the awkward maneuvering stage of "starting to catch feelings but still bickering". Basically where they're kind of in the know but confused like last week's backstage water bottle opening and Win worrying about Sound's hand. But on the bright side, we did finally get that SoundWin scene that felt like it was missing the past couple of episodes. I called it! I KNEW IT EXISTED! Wait I just realized this rn but does that mean that Win was the first one too flirt?! Or at least to make a flirty comment? I call absolute bullshit on his "my heart doesn't beat fast around you" statement. I was pretty sure it was bs but now we have more insight and we know. Win worrying about Sound and checking up on him during his song writing session was so cute. They did it perfectly! The only reason Win's comment didn't fly was bc Sound was very vulnerable sharing that with him and their usual back and forth banter hurt. It was so weird seeing Win trying to make up with his future bf lol. He looked like a very confused and lost dog who's just trying his best but I'm glad that Sound recognized that. I love how they challenge and motivate each other.
TinnGun's story was also very different and odd, it kind of felt like filler or an in-between episode for them which also had some major out of the norm storytelling elements. It's no secret that Gun's more down and ready to kiss on the lips than Tinn, the boy wouldn't stop looking at Tinn's lips when flirting with him in the café setting. But last episode was really the only time where they teased a possible kiss on the lips and that one felt like it occurred really naturally. This episode the narrative tried to tease a kiss at least 3 or 4 times which is very unlike them bc TinnGun's ship usually focuses on the chemistry, the comfort and emotional connection rather than the physical. Sure, I was on the edge of my seat but I didn't really like that new aspect and I feel like it had deflated all of the buildup and tension that was created between them previously. They kind of wasted it IMO. Idk TinnGun felt a lot more at unease this episode when they've been shown time and again being each other's Safe Place. Also Sound's song was a bit more autotuney than I'd like, not as bad as Smile Please but definitely noticable at some points more than others.. what's going on? I'm happy with SoundWin's progress even if their conversation was a bit awkward. Before this episode, I had basically completely trusted MSP to do justice to this story but unfortunately this episode is making me second guess that. Hopefully this is just a one-off episode because it was the "beach special" but I am hesitant about future episodes. Especially since it looks like the episode 11 curse might be coming early ekk. I'm not ready for the pain!

Pfft- maybe he just has a special pull that pulls lesbians in lol; because I've definitely thought that he was super cute since SIMM.. (Bc he is. Sataang's adorable)
@biriyani Well I think the funniest one is the fact that now all of the Lays Chips in the UWMA universe all of a sudden became a yellow nondescript brand in BU🤣... I guess their sponsorship wasn't renewed lmao
I haven't watched the movie nor will I but I have fully completed the series and I honestly think that it'd be better as a movie. So if this is just a compilation of the series then watch the movie lol
So well said; I completely agree. And while I hadn't been waiting the 3 years for this to come out, I am definitely really disappointed at where this left us. The characters of Win and Team (mostly Team) had both been changed in so many ways that in the end they didn't resemble the characters that we all loved in UWMA. Even more than that, they changed WinTeam's whole dynamic which imo had really dire consequences. I might be being a smidge dramatic by saying this but by the end of BU, there were points in which Win felt more like a nanny to Team than an actual lover. I said what I said.. I still love WinTeam in general but the OG WinTeam deserved so much better. Also, while there was a scene or two that I did think added something to Team and Pharm's friendship, as a general statement, they did such a disservice to the friendship of the core trio of Pharm, Team and Manow. All they did was eat meals together and tease each other about their boyfriends. To see their friendship be one of circumstance and their relationship be refined to boys and food was such a shame. Thank you for mentioning the OST. I legit haven't heard anyone complain about that yet and it took me out of so many scenes! And that finale, to me at least, felt like such a slap in the face with all of the cheek kisses and the weird curtain call esque scene at the beach.
