I haven't even started watching this and seeing this page has already devolved in name calling and attacks really…
Yeah exactly, it's not worth it. I usually make one comment if I feel like it and avoid toxic comment sections. Maybe check back every once in a while (if it's something I'm watching) in hopes that they sort themselves out eventually because really, the comment sections that allow everyone's thoughts and opinions can really elevate the watching experience of an airing show even more! But unfortunately comment sections that are like this don't tend to inspire people to go watch the show or even give it another chance. Which sucks because I'm sure that that's counterproductive to what everyone who's here and is passionate wants. Especially for such a milestone for GL everywhere. And thank you so much ❤️
*Sigh* We've finally gotten 23.5 after almost two years of waiting and the comment section looks like a warzone. It's disappointing and irritating honestly. There aren't even any homophobic or sexist comments here so I don't understand why so many people are so pressed about it. Yes the majority of us are here because we are excited for and enjoy GL, or maybe just trying to support this up and coming industry. Some of us are happy with what we've gotten so far and some aren't. And it's okay to be disappointed! It's valid and you should be allowed to voice that just as much as all the praise! Just because someone else doesn't see this as as flawless as you do, they have a different opinion or different taste, doesn't mean they're automatically "lesbphobic", "homophobic" or "sexist". There are so many countless different factors involved in enjoyment; it's not that simple and to boil it all down to such is frankly insulting and demeaning.
It's true that biases do exist and sometimes people need to be gently reminded of that but I would hope that here on this drama rating website, that us, the people who are passionate enough to actually make an account are more likely to be able to be more objective. Name-calling, belittling and tearing others down is not cool and doesn't get anyone anywhere. Neither is the passive aggressiveness. There's enough space here for everyone's opinions to be expressed whether they be positive or negative. And it's so early in this series, meaning that feelings are bound to shift and change, but that doesn't mean that these early thoughts are invalid or that they should to be dismissed. There's a beauty to the nuances of a journey; it's not just about the end result (or ratings). We'll get there eventually.
And I'm saying this in the most heartfelt and sincere way possible, if you want to enjoy this drama in "peace" and are getting upset by other people's opinions, please go find a fanpage to go rave on. Don't go on a drama discussion board website and get upset by seeing that other people with differing opinions exist. What were you expecting? Seeing clashing thoughts about your favorite shows is by no means fun but ONLY YOU can control your own intake of content (these comments) and how YOU react to them. You can't control anybody else. So a suggestion: if you see a negative comment, how about you spam your excitement here 3 fold instead? Or maybe if you feel inclined, ask them why and start a civil discussion? There's no need to interact, dismiss or belittle anyone for general thoughts. Idk if any of you have been onto that many other pages but the sentiments expressed here are pretty standard and definitely not hateful. I'm starting to think that some people aren't aware of what actual hate is. That's a privilege but doesn't mean it excuses the bullying and bad behaviour. This reminds me of The Sign's mdl page where no one could speak their mind without starting another frenzy and that sucks. Our GLs deserve better.
So please stop trying to "shut people up" and attempting to control what other people must think or say, it's coming off as immature and doesn't make for a very comfortable environment. We should all be able to exist in this space as we're all looking forward to more and more GLs being produced.
I feel like someone just has too much time on their hands and just over does the photoshop too much lol. Like you know when you keep trying to fix things and it just keeps getting progressively worse? Yeah that.
