Thanks for your recommendations. 0.5 no Otoko seems really good and has a similar theme to Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai which I really enjoyed.

Konto ga Hajimaru was refreshing and had a classiness rarely seen in Dramas. Probably it's one of a kind and there aren't any dramas that are as mature.

Taiga's characters are often underdogs that remind me of the Tramp played by Chaplin. You laugh at them but also empathize with them.

Great review! Could you recommend other recent dramas like this? Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai was similar and very good but I've already seen that. Another one was Okashi no ie starring Joe Odagiri. This one was the best of the three though. Another drama starring Taiga called Hirowareta Otoko was also good. Taiga is turning out to be a real gem and churning out good dramas and movies consistently. The writing is good and all the actors are at the top of their game in this drama. The scene where Rihoko breaks down was cathartic and a stand out. I have 3 episodes left, please recommend other good recent dramas in a similar vein.

This isn't slice of life. There are many hit slice of life shows and movies.
Slice of life by definition is non preachy and this series and others like it are as self righteous and preachy as they get.

The market determines your value. If the market which consists of both men and women finds that you're not providing as much value and not bringing enough to the table then that's what you deserve. If you truly want equal pay then the number of women in every profession including ironworkers, sewer cleaners, firemen, truckers should be exactly half the number of men in all professions and the women should work as hard as men.
