How it all began — origins, betrayal, and too many suspects

Episode 3 is very much a ā€œhow it all beganā€ episode, and honestly, it was a full-on blubber fest. We see baby Ra-ik and how he enters the industry — and let’s be real, the whole situation is deeply unsettling. A CEO essentially buying a child from his mother? That’s beyond shady and immediately sets the tone.As the episode unfolds, we learn how Ra-ik meets Kang Woo-seong, making the present-day accusations even more heartbreaking. Everyone around Ra-ik seems ready to believe he’s guilty, and the fact that Maeng Se-na is the only one truly backing him hurts almost as much as the crime itself. There is clearly far more to this story than what we’re being shown. The mysterious ex-girlfriend keeps appearing, and while she’s undeniably suspicious, it feels too obvious for her to be the killer — especially the idea that she may have killed Kang Woo-seong thinking it was Ra-ik. There are simply too many possible suspects at this stage: the prosecutor’s boss with his ā€œthis case is wrapped in a bow for youā€ attitude, the stalker ex who likely plays a role in Ra-ik’s heavy medication, the bandmates who are quick to throw him under the bus, the violent manager, and of course, the ever-shady CEO.It’s far too early to call it — and that’s exactly what makes this episode so compelling. At this point, it feels like the drama is intentionally overwhelming us with suspects, which makes me think the real truth will come from something much quieter and more personal.

Confused, intrigued and already suspicious

I spent a good chunk of this episode trying to figure out what was going on šŸ˜‚ There are clearly a lot of connections and backstory being introduced.😱 LWX being blamed for her professor’s death and called his mistress was brutal. The moment she looked like she might jump genuinely had me worried.⚽ My favourite scene was LWX chasing the school boy to get the football returned. A little bit of chaos amongst all the heavier moments šŸ˜‚šŸ‘€ Somehow LWX is connected to two deaths and there also seems to be some history or connection between her and WF.šŸ’ I don’t fully understand everything yet, but I’m intrigued. Also, visually speaking, LWX and WF are both gorgeous on screen šŸ˜‚Current verdict: confused but intrigued.

Microscopic Feelings Are Still Feelings

I think we’re seeing the start of Shen Xihe getting feelings for Xiao Huayong. Very small. Barely there. But feelings all the same šŸ˜‚šŸŒøTheir moment in the garden watching the pond and moss light up the evening was so pretty and quietly romantic. Xiao Huayong has already fallen headfirst while Shen Xihe is apparently taking the scenic route towards feelings.šŸ˜‚At the flower banquet, the other princesses clearly wanted to put Shen Xihe in her place. Unfortunately, they picked the wrong woman. She turns the whole thing back on them with a little help from Xiao Huayong. I love these two schemers working together.šŸ‘€I actually felt for Shen Ying Ruo. She has a close somewhat intimate relationship with the Second Prince but he’s made it known his interest in marry her sister, so she’s genuinely surprised when Shen Xihe says she doesn’t plan to marry him.šŸ‘€Shen Xihe also makes it clear she won’t let him marry Shen Ying Ruo either because his actions have already proven his character… and apparently it’s not that great.šŸ˜‚The slow burn has officially started burning. Very, very slowly. Xiao Huayong is completely gone and Shen Xihe’s feelings have moved approximately 0.5%. I’ll take it.

Ouch. Direct Hit.

Xiao Huayong is a bit like a lovesick puppy whenever he’s around Shen Xihe and it’s adorable. She’s all business while he’s basically fangirling over her šŸ˜‚šŸ’•When Shen Xihe saves him, obviously completely clueless about it, he just falls a little more in love. Sir is already gone.šŸ‘€The poisoning mystery is getting interesting. Xiao Huayong meets with the imprisoned King Kang believing he’s behind his poisoning, only for him to say the Crown Prince needs to look closer to home and remember who fed him the poisoned cherries. If this really leads back to his father… WHY?!😭Xiao Huayong finally stepping forward to ask for Shen Xihe’s hand in marriage was such an awww moment. Then she responds that she wants someone she can grow old with.Ouch. Direct hit.šŸ˜‚Especially when everyone keeps saying Xiao Huayong doesn’t have long to live. She really unknowingly chose maximum emotional damage.šŸ‘€The romance is adorable, Xiao Huayong is falling harder and now I’m suspicious of his own father. Still seated.

He Thinks She’s Adorable… She’s Plotting His Death

The leads are so similar and it’s adorable. Pretty much every interaction between Xiao Huayong and Shen Xihe had me laughing. He thinks she’s adorable while she’s actively plotting his death šŸ˜‚šŸ‘€I’m really starting to love Xiao Huayong. Whilst the Crown Prince is sick, he’s also incredibly capable. He’s no pushover and clearly has a lot more going on than people realise.šŸ˜‚Xiao Huayong putting his robe on. That’s it. That’s my favourite scene. Hubba hubba… those chest muscles.šŸ‘€It’s still not clear who poisoned him, but I’m betting it’s somehow connected to another prince. This is a historical drama after all and apparently nobody can peacefully exist in a palace šŸ˜‚šŸŒøI’m officially invested in these two. Give me more plotting, more sneaky Xiao Huayong and more Shen Xihe casually considering murder while he thinks she’s adorable.

Sir, I Do Not Trust You

There’s something shady about Xiao Changqing! He’s playing the part of devoted widower a little too well. Him telling Xiao Changying not to be like him and end up with unrequited love because Lady Gu didn’t reciprocate his feelings should have been sad… but sir, I don’t believe you šŸ˜‚šŸ‘€He’s giving off serious power-hungry vibes. Plus, he didn’t seem that bothered about his wife when he executed her entire family, leaving her as the sole survivor. Something isn’t adding up.🌸My favourite scene was Shen Xihe going to the Eastern Palace for tea while Xiao Huayong puts on a whole show about how much he loves flowers. Meanwhile, Tian Yuan was up all night sorting out the garden because it’s all a lie šŸ˜‚šŸŒøI’m loving the cuteness of Xiao Huayong, but I need him to speed it up a little. Shen Xihe is being an absolute badass while he’s playing frail. I get he’s playing a part, but I want to see more of his sneaky side against everyone else.šŸ‘€Right now, Shen Xihe is the only one getting the full Xiao Huayong experience šŸ˜‚ Suspicion levels are rising and I’m still intrigued.

The Plot Is Already Plotting

I’ve got to say Meng Ziyi plays Gu Qingzhi beautifully, but I’m already a fangirl of hers after Blossom.•The pacing of episode one felt just right, although I’ll admit I was confused for a minute trying to work out whether this was a rebirth situation or something completely different.•Gu Qingzhi drinking poisoned wine on purpose to frame the family that killed hers was definitely my OMG moment. The commitment to revenge is already slightly unhinged.•We’ve got intrigue, fighting and a kick-ass female lead. But don’t think our male lead is slacking either. Shen Xihe definitely feels like he’s hiding some serious depths, although considering he was poisoned as a child, that’s probably to be expected.•Favourite scene has to be Shen Xihe making the eunuchs who attacked a girl jump off a cliff knowing they’d be killed by a beast. Justice served!•The plot is plotting and I’m intrigued. Definitely continuing.

EP01 | Mary Poppins, But Make It K-Drama Romance šŸŒ‚

SPOILERSCha Ji Yun is already having a TIME. An unexpected blind date at lunch, getting drunk and falling into her boss’s arms… then her boyfriend leaves and only sends her a TEXT?! Sir?!I already really like Cha Ji Yun. Our girl seems to have a talent for landing in the most awkward situations imaginable but somehow bouncing back.Seo In Guk is giving us plenty of visuals and I’m not complaining. There are definitely little remnants of his Doom at Your Service character in Kang Si U and I see it.The whole episode had this really whimsical feel, but that umbrella scene absolutely sent me. ML and FL flowing towards each other under umbrellas like Mary Poppins but make it K-drama romance.Quirky, whimsical and already giving me ridiculous romantic moments. I’m in.

Leave the Tech Genius Alone

Episode 7 had a healthy dose of emotional angst with plenty of physical retribution, which was exactly what I needed after the previous episode. Bong Geun Dae being kidnapped genuinely caught me off guard because he’s normally the one safely behind a screen helping everyone else, so seeing him become the person who needed rescuing added a completely different level of tension. My favourite scene was Im Han Rim rushing in to save him after his kidnapping was picked up through her watch, and yes, a good face slap was definitely deserved. We’re also finally starting to learn more about why the EPRB was created and how the death of the Minister’s daughter, who was also Na Hwa Jin’s fiancĆ©e, connects to the bigger story. The teenager responsible is beginning to look like he might not be all he originally seemed, and I’m now very suspicious that there’s more going on here.• Favourite Character: Bong Geun Dae• Favourite Scene: Im Han Rim rushing in to rescue Bong Geun Dae• Current Verdict: The bigger EPRB storyline is finally taking centre stage and I need answers.

When Being a Juvenile Becomes an Excuse

Episode 6 genuinely made me angry. Watching these boys steal a car, drive through a pedestrian area with absolutely no concern for anyone else’s safety and then hide behind ā€œI’m a juvenile, you can’t do anything to meā€ was infuriating. The complete lack of consequences had clearly made them believe they were untouchable, and don’t even get me started on the parents… grrr. If you refuse to discipline your children while defending everything they do, at what point should you also be held accountable for their actions? My favourite scene was Im Han Rim dishing out some much-needed justice when the bully tried to kill the girl he’d hooked on drugs and tortured with his friends, while Choi Gang Seok proving he wasn’t playing around about creating a prison for juveniles was another standout moment. I also have a feeling the EDPB might be heading into hot water after one of the juveniles nearly gets stabbed. With the politics already politicking, I can’t see this disappearing quietly.• Favourite Character: Choi Gang Seok• Favourite Scene: Im Han Rim dishing out some much-needed justice• Current Verdict: An infuriating episode that asks some very uncomfortable questions about accountability and consequences.

A Taste of Your Own Medicine šŸ’Š

Episode 5 hit a little differently and I’ll admit it dragged slightly for me compared to the previous episodes. Instead of the physical retribution and very satisfying justice we’ve seen so far, this episode was much more emotionally loaded and focused on the damage constant harassment and pressure can cause. Watching a young teacher be pushed so far that she tried to take her own life was heartbreaking, especially when the parents responsible continued to act as though they were the victims. My favourite scene was watching the horrible mother who had been harassing the teacher finally get some of that same treatment dished back to her, while Na Hwa Jin giving the father a taste of his own medicine was equally satisfying. This drama really doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable moments and, although this wasn’t my favourite episode, I can appreciate why the story needed to show that damage doesn’t always come from one dramatic act. Sometimes it’s the constant pressure that slowly wears someone down.• Favourite Character: Na Hwa Jin• Favourite Scene: The horrible mother getting a taste of her own treatment• Current Verdict: A slower and much more emotionally loaded episode, but still an important part of the story.

Green Flags, Plot Twists & Terrible Exes

This was probably my favourite episode so far. We’re finally starting to see a different side of Li Yi Fei following the breakup, and I enjoyed seeing some of the cracks in his normally calm and collected image. The more I see of him, the more green flags he collects.Qian Fei continues to have a rough time as she tries to move forward after losing both her relationship and her job. Watching her struggle through unsuccessful interviews was frustrating because she’s clearly capable, but life doesn’t seem interested in giving her an easy win right now.The biggest surprise of the episode was finding out that Li Yi Fei’s ex-girlfriend already knew he came from money. I genuinely didn’t expect that reveal. Up until now I assumed she simply chose wealth over love, but apparently she already knew exactly who she was walking away from. That revelation made her actions look even worse.Meanwhile, Qian Fei’s ex continues proving he might be one of the most annoying characters in this drama. Watching him with his new girlfriend makes it increasingly obvious that his idea of a ā€œperfect womanā€ comes with a very specific bank balance attached. My favourite scene was easily the bartender friend throwing Li Yi Fei’s best friend over her shoulder after a drunken misunderstanding. I was not expecting that at all and it had me laughing.Favourite Character: Li Yi FeiFavourite Scene: The bartender friend launching the best friend over her shoulder after their misunderstanding.Biggest OMG Moment: The reveal that the ex-girlfriend already knew Li Yi Fei was wealthy.Overall, the romance is still developing at a slower pace than I’d usually prefer, but the characters continue to keep me invested. The green flags are stacking up, the exes are making increasingly questionable decisions, and I’m fully seated for whatever consequences are coming their way.Current Verdict: Not perfect, but I’m definitely sticking around to watch the exes regret everything.

Who’s Top Dog Now?

Episode 2 built on the strong start from the premiere while giving us a better understanding of why Na Hwa Jin is so passionate about protecting both teachers and students. The central conflict focused on students fighting and taking beatings just to gain recognition from the so-called ā€œtop dog.ā€ What made it satisfying was watching that same person completely crumble when confronted by Na Hwa Jin. All that reputation and power suddenly meant very little. My favourite scene was easily the car ride with the two troublemakers. Watching them realise they weren’t in control of the situation anymore was both hilarious and incredibly satisfying. The biggest revelation of the episode was learning that the teacher who was stabbed two years ago is actually Na Hwa Jin’s wife. It adds a lot more weight to his actions and helps explain why he refuses to stand by when teachers or students are being failed by the system. The drama continues to balance serious themes with moments of humour surprisingly well. It still gives me strong Taxi Driver vibes, with people abusing their power eventually being forced to face the consequences.Favourite Character: Na Hwa JinFavourite Scene: The brake-failure car rideCurrent Verdict: Another strong episode. The emotional stakes are growing, and I’m even more invested in Na Hwa Jin’s story.

Justice Has Arrived

This was a strong opening episode that tackles some very uncomfortable topics. Watching the teachers struggle against students who seemed untouchable was frustrating, and the drama doesn’t shy away from showing how broken the system has become.āš–ļøThe highlight of the episode was undoubtedly Na Hwa Jin. The moment he arrives at the school, the entire atmosphere changes. His approach is blunt, intimidating and often hilarious, but after seeing everything that happened beforehand, it was difficult not to cheer him on.āš–ļøMy favourite scene was the gasoline confrontation. Rather than backing down, Na Hwa Jin forces the bully to confront the consequences of his actions and the impact they’ve had on others. It was intense and perfectly captured the drama’s focus on accountability.āš–ļøWhat surprised me most was the balance between serious social commentary and comedy. One minute I was horrified by what was happening, and the next I was laughing because someone had been slapped into next week.āš–ļøThe drama gave me strong Taxi Driver vibes, with wrongdoers being forced to face justice when the system fails. If the rest of the series maintains this level of intensity, I’m definitely in for the ride.āš–ļøFavourite Character: Na Hwa JinFavourite Scene: The gasoline confrontationCurrent Verdict: A powerful and engaging first episode that immediately hooked me.

Both Rebellious in Their Own Way

This was a decent opening episode that introduced two very different but equally intriguing leads. Lu Xi Xiao immediately stands out as the school’s resident troublemaker, while Zhou Wan proves she’s far smarter and more resourceful than people probably realise. My favourite reveal was discovering that Zhou Wan was the mysterious student selling the class notes everyone depends on. It was a fun way to establish her character and showed she has her own rebellious streak.Lu Xi Xiao stole most of the episode for me, especially during the hilarious security chase that ended with the school assembly getting drenched by sprinklers. The only part I struggled with was the flash-forward opening. The drama seems determined to make us question Zhou Wan’s future choices, but given everything she’s already endured, I’m reserving judgement until we know the full story.Overall, a good start that has me curious enough to continue.
