I know it cannot be 100 realistic. It's so overused, you know I cringed hard whenever I saw something like it in dramas. I just hoped it won't follow the same shit. Ok.

The dramas you've mentioned are all xianxia and fantasy elements dramas. It happened in those like a piece of cake. This is not one. I expected it to be more realistic theme.

About 2). One thing I don't get is that isn't it whose focused based on the cast order? C-drama fans fight a lot on billing, first name, which is equal to the center focus. It's Bai Jingting in the first billing. Didn't they just use his name? I used to prefer female focused dramas. But, here I think it would be a lot more interesting if they make it male lead focused instead.

It's damn slow and boring if you used to love watching action-packed, fast-paced wuxia dramas. It is the same case for me too. The plot has no clear set-up or direction I must say.. and the leads relationship is already goals, with no improvements or conflicts. It seems repeating the same old circle. I'm bored to death with fl long business conversations. I would say 21-22 got a lot better with political plotlines.
His fight scenes are so damn cool, if they make it to a martial arts drama instead, it would be so much fun.

Idk about you, but some might think it's boring drama because of less action and plot going on. I first thought it's comedy, romance and family, now become more drama. The whole plot is still very simple with more talking, less action, if you know what I mean (to compare with other historical dramas).
This and also New life begins are kinda unusual and simple, but great dramas. It's not like I'm not enjoying it. Next time BJT should leave from this story route. I want to see him in more action and complex historical dramas, like xianxia genre which is becoming more mainstream.
