In the novel WE dont have love arc between frj and MF. Frj Played with HE but it's not a love arc in the novel.
Was in love. He had a crush a Big one but only FRJ. Not MF. For me it's not an arc love and HE and FRJ it's a part of the novel. They didn't change that

he is the best friend of the Ml. he was an ancient god and fall in love for a mortal woman, brave the rule of Heavens (univers) and his punishment was this tribulation. he lost his immortality. Not a bad guy.
