pull strings basically means do things behind the scene so that it looks flawless.. and mostly used as a synonym in modern language to do things from behind to falter plans of someone inferior.. seen in dramas involving bullying and revenge.. for this drama the context is the main character LCS doing mischivieous things to achieve whatever he wants
