Exactly. Even if the qiulubai thing didn't happen, there was also BDJ helping YDZ with the wedding fiasco. Those in power are just so pathetic and insecure that they would have targeted BDJ and his family anyway.

I agree with you about the fight scenes. I'm also not happy they were not given enough attention for a supposed wuxia genre drama. But I also really like the comedy, the heartwarming moments, the chemistry between characters, the good CGI and the beautiful costumes and people. I mean, it's supposed to be a costume drama after all. So in my book, this deserves a fairly good rating.

I think this is one of the most interesting dramas so far this year despite its shortcomings and that it definitely deserves at least a 8.3 score if not more. Why does enjoying the drama make one "a drama minion" or "a guard dog"? It's called having an opinion?

Nope. It's a very happy drama. You can watch with your mind at ease.

Frankly, I am not a fan of the source material this drama is based on. Weak female characters, many stereotypical tropes, and the individual stories of this generation of "dashing youths" are pretty depressing imo. So the scriptwriters couldn't really have done much about those issues. And add to that, the pacing of this drama is a bit off too. And I'm not sure getting the novelist involved in the production was a good idea either because sometimes writers should just remain writers. But that being said, I also think this drama may have been more difficult to adapt than BoY because the plot is messier and depressing here in this story (and you know how depressing stories aren't really that well recieved by viewers, and the producers may have been cautious about that, leading to the lack of pacing). Anyways, that's what I feel personally
