the main plot is about female getting know ML better and saving him. She saved the male lead but in a different timeline but in present (in which dimension she came from) the male lead is already dead but at last ep it was shown that someone was holding an umbrella for her in the rain but didn't showed his face so it was an open ending that's why a sequel is made

the 10 years dating is not the main plot
and they rarely showed them dating for 5 minutes or less
the story only focus on the main leads

the movie is continuation of the drama because the drama had open ending.
