I said another stand alone adaptation bcoz you can watch it without watching the 1st drama adaptation. Even the plot starts midway of the donghua, they gave flashbacks/ introduction. The cast, background settings and even some plot of 2 dramas are different. It will only confuse you if you take this as continuation of Douluo Continent 2021.

This one is another stand alone adaptation of Soul Land.

What's the reason it was shelved for too long?

That's why I am taking this as another stand alone adaptation. They can give flashbacks and explanation if they decided to start midway of the story. This drama is much closer to the donghua while the first drama adaptation in 2021 was not.

It seems and I will treat this as another stand alone adaptation of Soul Land and not related to the other drama. So the change of actors won't confuse and matter much to me.
