Some people would lose their sanity entirely if they went through something like this. Expecting her to be calm and reasonable at that moment is completely unrealistic.
If they had written her as emotionally detached and calculating immediately at the moment such a tragedy just happened, then I would call it bad writing because that wouldn't be human. But the male lead talking some sense into her? That makes perfect sense. That’s how people snap out of grief they need someone to ground them.
